Ok so here's a couple things I got finished today...

All my hard armor is painted an has a few clear coats on it, all greebs & decals are installed, all except the helmet visor (oh but soon!)

null_zps7d95f924.jpg

I still need to weather everything (this will get rid of the shine)

Camo pattern added to all my soft armor... (By that i meant my pouches comm-tech) my cummerbund only has tan and brown weathering added to it

(The brown doesn't look nearly as dark in person, the whole thig still looks mainly grey)

Oh an I finished painting my belt as well,

I painted it with grey primer then hit each block with a normal acrylic black, then topped it all off with a few clear coats.

I've let it dry and tryed to scrunch it up, twisted it, and folded it to make sure it won't crack or stick to itself and peel the paint)

So I forgot to pick up more E6000; Velcro; and super glue... I still need to add some snaps to the armor (E6000) and connect the back/chest pieces at the side (Velcro)

Oh well, I'll pick some up tomorrow and probably see the riding patch on as well.

(What do you guys think of the camo patterns?)

Thanks Bselph, this is my first build, hell my first costume build ever...

No I haven't done the eye lines yet, but thanks for the reminder... LoL I was just sitting here thinking of things to do without the Velcro and glue.

I guess I'll make a stencil and get them painted on there tonight

I almost forgot as well! I cut out the shape out of the vinyl letters that you out on your mail box, that I got from walmart, and then cut the strips with a hobby knife, lifting every other one out. It was easier than doing a stencil for me.

And that's fantastic for your first build! I've done a few, but this is by far the best I've done. The TD I did turned out poor, an the 2 tuskens were great, but no actual armor on them.

Ahhh soft armor, gotcha. Paint job looks good DR. I am right there with you, this is the first thing I have every constructed, as far as a costume. Thankfully I have all you guys and Grumpy to help me along. I appreciate the WIP's, they really come in handy.

I know what you mean CT, without everybody else and their WIP's (plus some of the veterans, ie. Grumpy & HeatShock) I wouldn't be at the level I'm at right now.

Thanks for all the help along the way guys

So I was useing snaps connected to the knee strap greebs to connect them but I just tryed to connect and disconnect them and ended up tearing a snap right out of the greeb....

So now I'm trying Velcro attached to the greeb itself, if it doesn't stay on its own then I'll have to super glue the Velcro on (I tested this method on the belt and it worked, but I'm out of super glue right now)

Not damaged too much but im gonna order another set of knee and elbow greebs and redo both later down the road..

Come to think of it I'm confused on how the snap pulled through since it had a backing.

Ok so I'll need some super glue to connect the Velcro to the greebs (the velcro's backing sticks but doesn't bond to the greeb alone)

I sewed my riding patch on today, also installed snaps on the armor & the BDU's...

I think all I have left to do is:

...connect the belt "buckle",

...and drop pouches (any tips on how to connect that damn buckle? I was thinking just super glue)

... and lastly just install the mirror green lens (when it arrives, thanks for sending me one Matt)

I just used CA glue for te buckle and worked great so far. I also notched a little at the bottom if the belt under the buckle so the leather could loop through. Just used some fingernail clippers to cut it.

I may redo my lens. The tint is a little wrinkled.

Okay, now it's a real pain in the butt to do, but there is a clear film on the green reflective side. It protects the sticky side.

So, you would peel that clear film off, spray some water on the back of your clear lens. Lay the green reflective side on the lens. Flatten it out and squeegee out all of the water and air bubbles. It's a window tinting film. So, when you are done, the silver side will be on the inside of the helmet.

It's just a matter of getting the peeling started, but it's there.

(Do this before you install the lens in the helmet.) ;)

Double oops...

That's ok though, I have it on pretty good.

I put the greeb reflective film on outside of lens and used Crazy Glue around the edge of lens to hold it, then used a glue gun and installed it in my bucket.

Just waiting for it to all dry now.

LoL I thought it might be a tint and tryed to find an edge to peel but couldn't :P

Now I need to get in touch with my GML

Bro that's sharp! Only thing I could see is that your GML may want better lighting for the pics. You can't see the details as clear, like the black strips on the cummerbund.

You may also want to raise the biceps for comfort. I've noticed though, with the biceps raised, they bump the chest and back joining pieces under my arms. Finally, do you think the riding patch needs to be weathered at all? I would ask smarter people than I, but it seems to stand out from the weathered appearance of the rest.

The lens looks good man. Overall, I don't think you're going to have a problem. You have done a fantastic build, got me through mine (along with the usual suspects around here, (Matt)), and what's more amazing, that this is your first build!

Great job. I submitted pics Saturday, but not heard anything back yet. You may beat me to 27 yet!
