DR's KST WIP (Kashyyyk Scout Trooper)

Death Recon

Ok so Ive been interested in building my own set of armour for the past 4-5 years (and a star wars fan for the past 25 yrs) but never looked into costuming much (my general interest was into the Scout trooper untill i realized I could make a Kashyyyk, then it was all uphill from there!)

I went to my local Army/Navy Surplus store (Ontario, Canada) and found a set of the British DPM Desert Cam combats, ($45)

*1 shows where i will add a neck piece to cover the gap in neckline.

*2 shows where i removed the chest pockets,

*3 shows where the old Leg pockets were...

I also removed all patches and the ass pocket.

Im taking all the buttons off the front and then replacing them with velcro. I belive this will help with pressure points, and there will be no need to hide buttons

Thaks for your time, Death Recon - Allan

Glad you found them, down in my area these are impossible to find. I have been to every A/N Surplus store for 50 miles and noone has them. I have a set, but I was looking to have a spare set.

The dimensions on the thigh pocket are going to have to be suited for the individual. Your thighs length and width, we have to determine how large they can be. I am pretty short and mine ended up about 5.5" wide by 6" tall.

I've got a box full of these at home in various sizes and condition. I used to wear his stuff for work until it was withdrawn. I'm out if the country for a while but I'll rifle through the box when I get home and try to find something for you if you're willing to wait awhile.

well, i guess rest is for the wicked...

I used the chest pockets rather than then the leg pockets. I cut them down one side and basicly just overlapped them to bring them to size.

I took a look at them while pinned to my leg but they looked too tall so i took them down by a 1/2 inch, now they are 5,1/4 by 6,1/2

then I started on the top/cover flap for them...

and so here is the finished product after i sew everything together, and put it on (by hand)

I also removed all the buttons, im going to add a strip of velcro insted

And now for the dyeing

So i was using the washing machine method, i think thats why its not comming out as dark but untill i see the contrast with the armour i will leave it at this stage for now

(stll need to sharpie all the threads)

If you are a size XL and have some fairly good condition BDU's you are willing to part with I would love to get a pair or two from you. No Rush, like I said I have a pair, but always good to have a second, just in case. Thanks

Looks good, Allan. Great start! B)

Even though you are putting on velcro, the cummerbund and chest armor will cover the button holes.

The neck flap looks good, too.

Nope they decided that I'll be going out west to Alberta, F*#^... At least after this posting it will probably be to British Columbia.

Well I finally got home, and opened my package from BikerChick!

Everything looks great, now I have to go out and get a few supplies; ie. dremel tool, clamps, bondo, E6000 glue, and the paint

I'll post picks of my alternate camo that im working on as well once I'm allowed to post pictures again, LoL, seems I've hit a global limit or something :(
