Testing out my polyurethane glue I bought on some test strips...

I cant find the "for sale" signs (they make them out of a new thin paper-plastic material now)

So I found some placematts that are made of what seems like the proper material.

I'm useing this for the "joining pieces", either way all the test strips seem to be working well...

I'll find out how strong each piece bonds to the other tomorrow when I try to rip them apart :)

The polyurethane glue didn't work too well so I bought some contact cement... Works well, used it to connect the tank greeb

I also connected my helmet visor with bondo so it would fill in the gaps between the inside of visor and the side of helmet...

I did the rough trim of all my pieces except the front/back of the legs because I used the heat gun on them to fix it up a bit... (That way I don't need to add too much thy are almost a good fit now)

Oh and I still need to cut the curve in the tank to fit on the back piece (in the process of that now, am I ever sketchy about it!)

Gonna get more done on the helmet after my kid gets up from her nap. (Needs a little more sanding an then I think it will be good for priming)

Life keeps slowing this build down but slow an steady I guess... More sporadic really.

K everything is trimmed down, I'm ready to attach the tank to the back plate. After that I just need to touch up the helmet a bit more then I'm all good to prime everything...

Only issue here is time, I'm leaving Sunday for another 2 months so I'll post more when I return.

Oh yeah, I had some work done by 2 different people while I was away, these two bad boys came in the mail :)

I've been working on and off the past couple days... I fixed my helmet (cut a bit too mich of the visor off so I added a bit to the edges and i made the whole in the visor too big so I filled it back in)

Also been working on the tank and back plate, (just need glue them together)

And I've got the bicep pieces nearly ready to put together and bondo

Anyways that's what I've been up to guys, time to get back to work

Got half my pieces all trimmed/sanded and ready for paint but it looks like the sun isn't gonna come out till Saturday (I don't have a garage so I'm doing all my work in my basement, I've been instructed by Mrs Recon that I have to paint outside)

Guess I'll just keep sanding all the edges down and try to grab the strips for my cummerbund I still haven't started/finished.

Here's the boot caps

null_zpscb307636.jpg

I still need to pick up some E6000, but I figured I could get away with just bondo... What do you guys think?

null_zpse11163ef.jpg

I still put a strip of plastic along the inside seem as you can see.

Boot covers look great. I'm not very experienced with bondo, so you'll have to wait for someone with more know how to give advice on that. Tip though, Home Depot or any handy store sells a little rubber triangle or square that is used for caulk lines, to smooth out. It worked perfect for the tank in getting a good smooth bondo line in the edges. The triangles are only a couple bucks.

Bondo is a seam, crack filler.

I don't know why, other than the brand name, that it's called Bondo.

For myself, I wouldn't use it as a bonding agent.

E-6000 or this:

You don't need much on this one. It's made for bonding plastic models together.

Well... I've already got the armbands 75% finished with pieceing them together.

I'm gonna see how this works... I don't see it being much different than useing glue then covering it with bondo. (At least I hope)

I'm still trying to get some Plasti-Dip to cover the belt with since I don't think normal paint will hold up the how flexible that thing is...

But it's hard to get a can of grey Plasti-dip in Canada... And if you can it costs 3X more

I tried plasti-dip on it, and it just rubbed right off! I wouldn't waste my money on it. I don't know the shipping regulation in shipping an rattle can, but if you need me to locate any for you and ship it, just let me know

Thanks but I don't wanna get you in poop with customs (I heard a nasty rumor up here that it's considered illegal to ship without proper documentation and warning labels and blah blah blah, so they would just decline it anyways)

Thanks for the offer though...

I am still waiting to hear on another Kashyyyk from across the pond about a riding patch though.

*wink wink nudge nudge* Heat
