  1. Small set back. Trying to install a lens that came as just a flat sheet. After hours of cutting and forming, it snapped while gluing! On the Shoretrooper fam page on Facebook motorcycle lens was the top comment, so I’ll try that next. good news! The bicep, forearm, and shoulder bells are painted Montana gold. They look amazing and I eagerly await my paints from Amazon. Hoping to sand the chest/abdomen tomorrow and get them painted Matt black. What’s the paint color for the decal on the bucket, that burnt orange circle?
  2. It’s been awhile! But I’m finally diving back into my shore trooper project! Currently sanding and painting Matt black still. But also wanting to knock out cutting the lens I ordered to fit the helmet. Anybody have a favorite tool to cut the shape out as well as how to clamp it down?
  3. That's awesome, I hadn't tried lexan scissors. I'll pick those up tonight, thanks!
  4. I'm beyond excited to begin work on my Captain Shoretrooper! Picked up the kit from a local fellow fan who just didn't have the time to dedicate to putting this together, but I gladly helped him out! A few pieces are missing (hip plates, "shotgun" shells), but I'm already in talks to get those pieces printed. I've just been gathering links now for soft parts and materials I'll need to literally piece it together, so recommendations on how to assemble and keep it together are warmly welcomed. Right now I'm working on the bucket (which was already painted when I got it) and the arm pieces. Trying to figure out how to trim the really curved pieces that my scissors and sanders can't get too very easily... Also wondering how people installed a helmet suspension system/padding in the bucket. Velcro, rivets, something else?
  5. Hmm. Both vendors said they were not comfortable recommending their kits to anyone below 5'7"... Do you know how successful people have been with shortening the length of shins? I also worry about the chest and back piece being too big. I do know someone with a printer and is in the 501st, but we are new friends so I don't want to ask for too much too quickly lol! Indeed people seem to be very helpful, but I absolutely do NOT want to take advantage of anyone.
  6. So I'm 5'4", 140 lbs and am worried about fit from most of the kits I'm finding online. Do you usually send measurements to places like 850ArmorWorks or Imperial Surplus to get the right fit? Or is it more of a they print, you make it work situation?
  7. I'd be happy to join you (bank account willing haha)! This is a fantastic thread, thank you!
  8. Hi there! I'm looking to put together my first set of armor (not made of cardboard lol)! I'm interested in doing a shore trooper. Specifically, a shore trooper officer. I don't have any equipment to build my own pieces, but I'm definitely interested in the art of making it movie-accurate and battle-worn. I'm based in Cincinnati if anyone has any contacts there. Looking forward to starting this journey!
