  1. Just from experience, and I'm a relatively newly approved Scout so keep that in mind, but I've only ever been able to de-kit without help, not put it on. I've always needed someone around to help (thank goodness for handlers and fellow troopers!) Which, coming from being a TIE Pilot, which I can entirely do myself, was a bit of a shock lol.
  2. Congratulations on your approval! I just read through your entire WIP and it makes me happy to see how you persevered and will do yourself and the Legion proud.
  3. Just like the Force - a dark side, a light side, and binds the universe together!
  4. Thank you everyone. I really appreciate it. Guess my Scout's vacationing on Scarif for a while then. 😅
  5. Major frustration. After working so hard to get my stupid costume approved in time for Fan Expo Canada, after one wear my belt cracks and nothing I've tried seems to work. List of things I've tried: - E6000 a piece of scrap to the back - multiple layers of E6000 both to front and back of scrap/crack - multiple attempts to fill crack with ABS paste Halp, am I stupid? Am I missing something? I would really like to wear this costume again but I can't if the belt's gonna break in half next time I put it on. There's also several really tiny and minor cracks on the belt in other places as well (such as right above the big one, in fact, as seen in the pic.) Those I've had a bit better luck with ABS paste. But the big one is giving me the middle finger and I am extremely upset.
  6. Thank you so much! ❤️ Worth every bit of effort. So proud to be a Scout and a Pathfinder.
  7. Slow and steady wins the race!
  8. You'll get there! My life's been all sorts of wibbly-wobbly lately and I've been a being of pure anxiety so I totally feel you on that. Just keep chugging, you'll get there. I also got EXTREMELY lucky with my Scout build - a Garrison-mate sold me his soft parts + the blaster, I got the helmet fully-built on the international 501st forum, and I got the armour on a sale-price. So I know my experience isn't really what one might call "typical" of the build, but it was still a slog and a half. Cheering you on!! You've got this.
  9. Thank you! And I just saw a play about a guy's love affair with all things Shakespeare so it was on my mind. 😁
  10. Thank you! I've actually been a member since 2017, although I've mostly been a TIE Pilot since I got in. So this is another notch on my belt and I'm SUPER excited to debut my Scout and pose in the Scout section of the Garrison group pic. I hope my frustration helps someone else avoid it themselves!! 😁 And a great huge thanks to everyone who's helped me along the way here. You've all been super motivating and super encouraging and I couldn't have done it without you! ❤️ Please give yourselves a pat on the shoulder from me.
  11. Oy! Now that I've gotten my Biker Scout done, gonna rest a bit, recover (because what a build) and then restart this one again... 😅😅
  12. Approved!! TB-82491 reporting in. (My anxiety was, apparently, much ado about nothing.)
  13. I'm sorry for letting my emotions spill out on here. I feel bad for venting here when I shouldn't have, as it's not the place for it. Please accept my apologies, I should've known better. My frustration isn't really a valid excuse, although, thank you all for indulging me with it. My GML's looking at it now so I'll hope for the best and accept what comes.
  14. Unfortunately the one that helped me recently lives close to 2.5 hours away and it's already too late at this point because the con is next weekend and tomorrow is the second deadline GML gave me. I'm just so stressed in so many other areas of my life right now that not getting the victory I've been chasing so hard is gonna hit hard, even though I have primed myself with the chance I might not be approved. I'm bringing it to the con anyway in the hopes that maybe with proper help I can get approved there, but at this point. Sigh.
  15. I'm not gonna lie I'm pretty frustrated at this point. Nobody in my family or any of my immediate friends are 501st so getting costuming help and picture help is really hard for me to find. Every single shoot I've done has either been coaching family/friends who don't quite understand what help I need or under a time pressure because other stuff needs doing so as a result I've noticed imperfections every single time I've tried, and I realize that. I understand that. But if I don't get approval soon I might just cry. I know my belt's crooked, and one of my arm plates isn't exactly perfect, but man. I just. Sigh. I really am at a point where I just want to toss this thing in the garbage if there's just one or two stupid things preventing me from approval. (And yes, the last picture is a bit cloudy. Sigh. I'm at my wit's end at this point.)
  16. Hey look, it's a thermal det! I also discovered that the tubing doesn't like being drilled so yay! My holes are uneven. Thankfully the clips have two spaces to use so I was able to level the clips out anyway - hurray! Also the one on the left refuses to be tightened in nicely like the one on the right, but whatever. That can be worked with. Tomorrow, resubmission pics are being taken.
  17. Oh! Well that saves time then. Thanks. I guess I'm just so stressed I didn't check the CRL.
  18. The proper clips (and screws) for my Scout's thermal detonator arrived. Unfortunately I didn't double check the colour like the idiot I am but easy solution - spraypaint. Will paint/attach ASAP so pics can be taken. Already got the spraypaint.
  19. It took two tries and the help of a Garrison-mate to get a nice close fit...you'll get there. Just take your time and be as patient as you can with it.
  20. I know, but even though I'm not going for Lancer, I've still been trying to build to the standard, if only so that down the line if I change my mind I won't have to fix too much.
  21. Alright, cummerbund all finished up. Tried it on and everything works well. Other issues: - flak vest sleeves too long; I did a suit up with flak vest and shoulder plates and held up a measuring tape, and the distance between bottom end of plate and sleeve (on both sides) is exactly 1.5", which is what CRL says, I think the plates just got shifted when I put them on last time, but I will do another suit up and double-check, and if sleeves need shortened, will do - GML's given me until the 20th, and proper thermal det clips haven't arrived yet, so I'm gonna wait until then and if they don't arrive, hope the GML is feeling nice Other then that, all done. Will update accordingly.
  22. I discovered a fabric-glue variant of E6000 at Michaels so I thought I'd try it out. Already glued the codpiece velcro to the back and attaching the pouches up front. Gave the back a full day to cure and doing the same for the pouches. This should solve both of my cummerbund-related issues. Please pardon the messy space.
  23. Heard back from GML - gotta fix all the issues but at least costume was submitted in time and is in the pipeline. Should hopefully be able to fix them all in one day or so.
  24. And submitted - wish me luck!
  25. Thanks so much!! Now that you've made me aware of the pouches I'll have to switch them, but since submission deadline is tomorrow I'll let the GML know I'm aware of this and switch before the con. I'm also aware my shoulders somehow got pushed back for this shoot, and my crotch is compressed. Also my pouches aren't placed right and I will fix that too. I will also let him know I'm aware of these. I'm going to send in some highlights from the first shoot to show that this was just coincidence. Here's my updated photoshoot with the improvements I did:
