  1. All extremely useful info, especially considering my RS armor should be nearing the end of its construction. I’m actually headed out the door as we speak to go do some work on my build. We don’t have a sewing machine at our place so I have to head out to the Imperial Sewing Department (my girlfriends grandmothers place). It doesn’t hurt to have an expert seamstress standing over your shoulder either. Congrats again on your Lancer approval Dennis, your thoroughness is a godsend.
  2. Congrats Dennis! Your build has been a huge guiding light for me in my own project. Cheers lancer 🍻
  3. Congratulations! What a great looking kit.
  4. Just picked some up off of eBay, thanks. @AradunFF That’s the first place I looked but once I saw they were out of the regular black suede I didn’t do much more looking there. Picked up a jumpsuit and balaclava as well while I was at it. Just need boots and a blaster and I’ll be ready to start throwing everything together!
  5. Over the past few weeks I’ve been prepping for my build and have gathered almost everything needed. Although my many trips to Joanns and online leather shopping hasn’t yielded any black suede. Many online suppliers seem to be out of stock as well for some reason. Anyone have a good source for black suede (real suede as I plan for Lancer)? Also doing some empirical research with the family tonight! Cant wait to recreate these scenes when my build is done. We live about 5 miles down the road from Skywalker Ranch and while It might not be Redwood National, Roy’s Redwoods in front of our home is where they filmed The Ewok Adventure in 84.
  6. Yes, the knowledge and hard work of all those that have come before has been invaluable so far. My web browser is currently a complete mess with how many tabs and bookmarks I have open. I feel the same way about ordering a set of ready made armor as well. Not only is this my first build but my first project I’ve attempted like it, ever. I think for my first run I’d rather play it safe and also have armor made from lineage. My soft parts however will be made by me 100% from scratch so I’m hoping that adds some handiwork back into the project. I chose an Altmann helmet for that exact reason, my large head. I’ve heard great things about his buckets and they’re a tiny bit roomier. I’m sure the helmet and RS armor should match well. Thanks again, this eases my mind about spending the dosh on the armor.
  7. Hey @AradunFF, I’ve been following your Lancer build for a while now and I just have to say what a beautiful job you’ve been doing documenting your progress. It’s been a huge inspiration to me and I can’t wait to begin my build in earnest. I too am working on my first build and hoping for Lancer when all is said and done. I’ve got some odds and ends already, a helmet from @spike in the works and some Wampa Wear gear. While I work on my soft parts I was going to pull the trigger and also purchase a set of RS Propmaster armor. I suppose my question is, now that you have it in hand, how do you like it? I see there were some modifications required for Lancer status but they don’t seem too vexing. The price tag is hefty, especially shipping to the states but I’m willing to cough up for what seems to be some of the most accurate ready to wear armor on the market.
  8. Thanks all for a warm welcome. I’m glad to hear working on armor will take less space than I anticipated. I’ll go ahead and get in contact with the GGG as well, I’d love to meet up with someone local at some point to get some pointers firsthand. I’ll pour over the info here on the forum and hopefully I’ll get started once I dig out the sewing machine. I’ve worked on projects in the past that have required 100% accuracy, I’m excited to learn what makes screen accurate and apply it to this project. Thanks again for the advise, I’m looking forward to joining the Pathfinders.
  9. Hello and greetings from the North Bay of the SF Bay Area! I’m a brewer here in San Francisco who is currently out of work until COVID decides to relax a bit. I’ve wanted to join the 501st, the Pathfinders specifically, for many years now. What better time to start putting together a kit than now. My goal is to make a ROTJ biker scout as close to screen accurate as possible. I have a sewing machine and plan to make all the soft bits from scratch. I’m pretty handy with needle and thread and the resources here on the forum are very helpful. My problem here in my tiny apartment is space. I don’t have much room for armor craft. So my question is, what are the best sources for buying (relatively) ready made armor? I’m willing to buy from online craftsmen or members who are selling off extra bits here and there. I’m a fairly average sized man (5’ 9” - 190 lbs) so I should fit most sizes. In the meantime, I’ll take all the advise I can get and hopefully before long I’ll be out and trooping. Or at least once the need for social distancing is at an end. Cheers!
