RS Prop Masters Scout Trooper armor
PhilBobTheFish replied to jkno's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
Quoted from the RS Scout Trooper description: Red Label replicas are true to the original studio made props, but tweaked to better suit costumers. They could be cleaned up and idealised. Or the materials changed. They could even be resized to allow for a bigger or taller trooper. It’s the props you love, just made for the real world. Introducing the Red Label Scout Trooper Helmet. This helmet is the same size and retains all the details of the studio helmet it was created from. All the changes are in relation to the construction. This helmet is made from mixed media, comprising of a fibreglass back and cap, with vacuum formed peak and face. Why would you do that? Simple, we have reduced the huge amount of time required to produce the helmet and that allows us to reduce the price for the helmet. Err, Ok, sounds great, but we have seen other fibreglass helmets and they don’t measure up to your Pinseal ABS winner. Hey thanks, but don’t be put off by other makes helmets, this has had the full RS treatment. The fit, look, size and detailing are what you would expect from us. To finish the helmet off it’s fully lined in the same way as our X Wing helmets, so its super comfortable to wear on a long days troop, something we can’t do on a strictly screen accurate helmet replica. If you are not into the new Red Label thing fear not, the Full ABS vacuum formed replica is still here and still available. Just select it from the options above. -

Did you get Full ABS or the Red Label? I am interested to see how those turn out. -

New Biker Scout in the process of AFprops
PhilBobTheFish replied to rietzer's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout WIP
When I say "soft" I am reffering to the sharpness of the detail being soft. I see where the confusion was. With the belt boxes I am talking about the space between them. The tube should be around 1 3/8th inch if it is going to be wire wrapped, and around 2 inches if using a vacuum tube. -
First Shoretrooper Build, Fully 3D Printed.
PhilBobTheFish replied to Mrt88's topic in Shoretrooper WIP
Ooohhh, PLA twice! I can tell you want to use that! It should be fine for small parts, but not sure how it will withstand trooping. But I guess printing in PLA and adding something to strengthen it should theoretically work. Since you have plenty of PLA on hand already, I would do a test print of a larger piece (ex. Shoulder or forearm) and see how it turns out. If it is weak, try to stengthen it with whatever means you wish and experiment to see what works. -
New Biker Scout in the process of AFprops
PhilBobTheFish replied to rietzer's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout WIP
I am unaware of AF but looks good overall. Don't know if it's the angle but the knees and forearms look a little soft, and belt boxes seem far apart compared to movie reference. Also, again it may be the angle, but the TD tube seems slightly narrow in diameter and it doesn't need to be curved that much. Good build and good luck on being approved. -

You may be one of the first people to have a suit as close to film used as possible! Can't wait to see it done. -

I'll just wait and see if they make an armor kit. Building it is half the fun. -

White dot size on tank topper?
PhilBobTheFish replied to Deathbytrees's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout HQ
It is around the same size as the round greeblie (the one on the back), just slightly smaller. -
Aaaaand my bad. I just realized this is a Rebels scout. I am blind. Disregard previous post.

Those gloves are not acceptable for basic, but here is a highly recommended pair that many here use. https://www.wampawear.com/product/biker-scout-gloves/ Once you get to five posts, you will be able to access the trading post, so you can look there for spare gloves or anything else you need (like soft parts). As for the helmet, the face plate and visor are glued together. The visor/face plate are then connected to the rest of the helmet on the sides with flat or concave gray bolts for basic and Gray 3M bolts for Lancer (visible bolt head diameter of 22mm). You'll do well with SC. Their new chest and back pieces look really good, and their shipping is fast (so no need to wait!). Also, they are one of the easier kits to build and it's nice that they include the straps and greeblies. Also, for the soft goods, check the vendor list. There are trusted people there who will do good work for you. You're on you way.
