Yeah mate PETG makes post printing so much easier than PLA and for me easier to print than ABS. PETG unlike PLA can stand up to some real tools and it sands a lot more like ABS. There is a fair bit of modding required for the Shore Trooper 3D print so using a material that I can run my disc sander over and band saw is a massive plus. Happy building.

Thank you so much ScaryGuy. I hadnt seen FarEasts Vanguard request only his awesome bamboo forest photos. So this will be a great ref check on my build. Good to see my mods to Seans files are in the same areas. And for him to get Vanguard from Seans files is motivating. I agree the chest is shorter in Seans files than others. WIth my Ab edits and a couple of other change I have made I should be in a good position to push the build. Hope to have the abs and kidneys constructed this week.

After looking at screen grabs and displays of the actual armour I've created a new STL for the ab extension to Sean Fields files. Should help make it far more accuate. Hoping to make this and a few other changes I have made to the armour STL's avaliable online soon.

Have really started to get the bulk of the back and chest locked away now. Had to shorten up the shoulder prints as Seans files result in the back and front being joined which is incorrect. There should be a gap of like 3 inches. After that I managed to mount the neck on perminently and with the helpof 2 small clamps attack the front and back to me. I've had a few people on the Shoretrooper Fam facebook quiry the size of my chest print thinking it was a little small. I'm thinking its correct and that my very square shoulders are just deceiving. As Paul has said to me once I have the abs done we will know how its fitting for sure.

I decided to try my hand at remodelling part of Sean Fields files for the back panel vents. The vent in the files are cust some angular vents and a straight edge with no border. The actual vents are more like a popsicle stick indent. So I designed up a new side section in Fusion360 and merged it with Seans original box angled it a little to match the screen used. after printing at 0.3 I was super happy with the results and with a little cleanup should place me in a good spot to get close enough to screen accurate. I have also done up some smaller details in fusion to add the tabs on the backpack above the boxes and other small details. I will post on those soon. As for the rest of the build. I have now cut down the side areas of the back from the cut files Sean provides. This was done with a thin tool on my soldiering iron.

Finally managed to have enough 3D printed parts to put together the chest and a start of the back. Lots of mods need to happen to the back but we will get there. Hitting the ref images up today. I have printed everything in PETG. I prefer PETG due to its durability and easier sanding and working with after the fact. I had some initial issues with warping as the thin structures are hard to keep securly bonded to the print bed so with a basic brim this issue was resolved. I have been joining parts together with super glue and then plastic welding the parts together with left over filament and a soldiering iron. It makes for some very strong conections. The super glue basically acts as a way to keep it in place whilst the welding is done. So excited to see its starting to take shape.

Some recent progress with the helmet and the first scaled arm prints to make sure I had worked out the sizing correct. I went with 95% as im only 5'9 (177cm) stick wieghing in at around 67kg when wet. I just managed to fit the shoulder bell at a 30degree angle on my print bed (200x200) As for the blast shield I have 2 that I will swap out at times for a fun cosplay I have planned and they attach via very strong magnets set into the helmet. This metal sheets on the blast shield then key into it. Its a super stong connection. I have filled the void at the rear of the helmet with a basic plasta filler and topped that with a thick layer of XTC-3D tht will be smoothed out with spot putty, Trying to get some Rust-oleum Satin Dark Walnut to throw down on the helmet before the weekend as its on the final pass of patching and sanding.

Hey Evenyone, Having loved the Shoretroopers from the first moment they hit the trailers for Rogue One, I have finally started to commit to the complete build of one for myself. I have made a few costumes in the past from a mixture or mediums like Eva Foam, reclaimed PVC signs, Paper Mache and even Vinyl Records. (I'll attach some pics below) This will be my first complete outfit or armour 3D printed. I printed the helmet from the sean fields files over 2 years ago as well as the e-22 however shelved it all for a period thanks to life getting in the way and other projects. I'm in no rush to get it built and being in Australia funds will be tricky for the softparts but we will see how things go. I usually stream on twitch my creations under the username of ShedquarterCreations and hope to share a fair amount or the armour construction and paint process there.
