Budget cuts have affected us all.
-
Thanks, no worries I don't need them right away
-
Any pointers or tips then? I've only currently trimmed the back and front sections
-
No offense@sskunky , but if you put trim lines in the top of the visor I'm not seeing them. Though that could be more on me than the mold.
-
What is the best way to trim the visor pieces to the right size? Do people make a cardboard stencil? My eyeballing skills aren't the best
-
Trimmed my visor and ear holes some more. Also started on joining the two halves together. I used Loctite super glue to attach the pieces to the bucket. After those dry, I know I need to use Bondo to fill the gap. Is this stuff good or is there something that works better?

Congrats

Thanks Chopper

I have my ear holes cut out and my faceplate started. Except for sanding, do my ear holes look good? I tried to stay right on wear the plastic started to curve. I figure need to take another 2-3 mm off on the faceplate before sanding

I have one piece completely cut out! Granted it's the chin cup but it's still something. I have the back side and bottom cut on the visor pieces. I'm going to get some help from a Garrison mate with the top and front.
-
Rough cut for the bucket is done. I'll work on the visor and faceplate tomorrow.
-
On the front, should I trim down to the black line or leave it? I don't want to trim too much off.
-
On the first picture, do I need to trim more off or is that good? On the second picture, the black line is where the lip from the casting is. What is the best way to cut that, using a Dremel or lexan scissors?

So my build hiatus can finally end. I figured I would start on getting the bucket done since I have most of what I need to finish that while I work on getting some money. Quick question: Is this the chin cup? I have the Lonewolf bucket that Mark did and it's the only part I'm not sure on.

There are relatively easy ways, namely painting, around not having a bronzeish sole, which there are some boots out there with that anyways. Yes it does add an additional step to be done but it is possible. I'm also not stating we need to insist on dead in screen accurate. There are plenty of costuming errors that made it on screen. The difference with what I'm suggesting is if every shot of the sole is more a bronze than a tan. If that's the case, it's not just a costuming error or mishap that made it past editing it's actually how the costume is. Which photo are you talking about? The bottom two pictures are from the CRL. One is the actual image for the boots and the other is in the gallery portion to help show the sole cut.
-
I realize I left off the main question of my post. Should we update the CRL to state that the soles are a different color than tan? I did look through both those links to make sure that I wasn't just seeing it in bad lighting. I saw only one image from the MoM that looked tan but it also looked like someone used a really bright flash when taking the picture.
-
I know the CRL states that the soles are tan but I feel that's inaccurate. I attached some pictures of the boots with two from the CRL. I also included a picture of tan (top), wheat (middle), and bronze (bottom) from Google (if they posted on the right order). All the images of the screen used boots I've seen in various topics look like the sole is a semi-transparent bronze instead of tan. Does anyone have images of the screen used boots that appear to be tan?

When mine comes in, I'll check to see if I get a coupon.

Thanks for the coupon Jason. Just posting so people know that it has been used at least once.

While fans are needed in some costumes (I need to install some in my Jawa somehow), the important thing to remember, especially on your first troop, is listen to your handlers and don't be afraid to say "I need a break".

I agree and I didn't really want to try and bring it with me to work on.

I unexpectedly got a job in China for a year so I have been unable to work on anything.
