  1. So today was ears day, too. First, I open up the "earwax" with a reamer... Sent from my SM-T560NU using Tapatalk
  2. Hmm...that's about as good as it gets, I reckon. Sent from my SM-T560NU using Tapatalk
  3. Thanks. That's a good angle. I think I'm gonna take just a wee bit more off the areas above the cheeks in an effort to get rid of that slightly raised rim. Sent from my SM-T560NU using Tapatalk
  4. Ok, all you SMEs. Eyeball this viewport and tell me what you think. My inexperienced eye is happy with it, but that don't mean nothin'. Sent from my SM-T560NU using Tapatalk
  5. Thanks for all the well wishes. Feelin better, so I've begun to get dirty with the helmet (you can see progress on my helmet build thread). The big news for the day is that my boots and bund arrived from Cheesewhoopy. I'm inexperienced with the small nuances and details, but to me these things look awesome. They are the first major items I have that are complete, so there is no need for my fatazz to model them for you guys yet. I'll wait until I get some of the other stuff so we can collectively compare fitment and plan adjustments. Lol Sent from my SM-T560NU using Tapatalk
  6. Then, I marked the interior lines with pencil to mirror the RS lines on the outside and started to grind away with the Dremel. Sent from my SM-T560NU using Tapatalk
  7. After some procrastination, I'm getting a little bit of grinding done on the viewport. First, I opened up the area with some curved acrylic snippers. Sent from my SM-T560NU using Tapatalk
  8. After a bunch of staring, lupine head-tilting, and almost an entire bag of tortilla chips (you know whassup, Seven) I finally got the snips a'snippin. The lines from RS are extremely dubious, but acting on the good advice of 762s I merely trimmed about halfway between the pencil lines from RS and the edge. I'm operating solely under the premise of "it's easier to take more off than try to add back on". After some *very* rough cuts, I taped a few of the components together to get some preliminary ideas of how things are "shaping up", per se. Just for giggles, I trimmed the crown all the way to the lines because I wanted to see first-hand how bad it could be. I figgered this would be an easy place to fix and fill. Good thing too, because after doing so, there's more gaps than a Sports Illustrated swimsuit photoshoot. Psh. No matter. The main thing I'm concerned with is keeping those natural body lines continuous. Sent from my SM-T560NU using Tapatalk
  9. So yesterday, I opened the box and took out the parts. Dangerous living, I know. Seemed like a good place to start though. Sent from my SM-T560NU using Tapatalk
  10. Which book is this? Sent from my SM-T560NU using Tapatalk
  11. Helmet arrived today. I'd be able to enjoy it a lot more if I wasn't so gottdang sick. Blegh. Sent from my SM-T560NU using Tapatalk
  12. Retro...bro. You just singlehandedly convinced me to start calling it a satchel charge. I don't even care. In RotJ, Threepio says Boushh (Leia) is holding a thermal detonator. Between that scene, and all the frag-esque TDs I've thrown in the game Dark Forces (everyone born before 1990 knows wassup lol), a "thermal detonator" will always be a spherical grenade. A satchel charge, though??? Brilliant. Never thought about it that way. Retro, you win the forums today. Sent from my SM-T560NU using Tapatalk
  13. If I remember right from decades of useless knowledge (I think I've forgotton more about the SWU then most civilians know lmao), I think the TK version was supposed to originally mimic the Werhmacht gas mask can. Where and when did we get the impression it was a grenade? Lmao. I can see the TK version perhaps being a container to hold things (maybe even grenades), but the TB version?? That thing doesn't even *look* like any kind of greande, lmao. Even when you kick in your best imagination! Hahah! Why not some kinda sensor, or scout-specific optic, or candy bar holder or SOMETHING! Nope, we went with a curved accordion grenade. Lulz. All this to say, I don't care what it actually is. Just seems like of all the things it *could* be, a thermal detonator is one of the most extreme leaps to make. Lol Sent from my SM-T560NU using Tapatalk
  14. Here's something I've been meaning to ask everyone since I first started this crazy adventure.... How is that weird little thing on our rear ends considered a thermal detonator when we all know *THIS* is a thermal detonator...?
  15. Wooot! Just got shipping comfirmation on my bucket from RS! Sent from my SM-T560NU using Tapatalk
  16. Sweet! PM sent. Sent from my SM-T560NU using Tapatalk
  17. I was attempting to keep the lenses at the lowest level possible first. I'd like to avoid purchasing entire eyewear systems merely to cut lens material out. A while back, Mickey pointed me towards the sheet of plastic that is sold to welders for their PPE masks and I am going to go that route primarily, but I really wanted to try these replacement lenses as well to compare the ease of use and appearance to that plastic, since they come pre-shaped and require very little trimming. Sent from my SM-T560NU using Tapatalk
  18. Well, that didn't work. Thanks for the try though, Seven. Let's keep looking. In the meantime...anyone feel like helping me out on this? Sent from my SM-T560NU using Tapatalk
  19. Roger that, thanks for the help. Standing by to stand by. Sent from my SM-T560NU using Tapatalk
  20. I have an odd request. These lenses come highly recommended for the TB lens, but I am having difficulty finding them in-stock or at a company in the United States. This Maciag-Offroad company has them, but they do not ship to the US. Does anyone in the EU feel like doing me a solid and ordering two of these replacement lenses, then shipping them to me? I'll cover the cost, of course. https://www.maciag-offroad.com/o-neal-replacement-lens-b2-rl-grey-antifog-sid70028.html
  21. The wire wrap gets heavy, I would imagine. Need to find a ribbed hose that doesnt need to be modified, except maybe paint. Sent from my SM-T560NU using Tapatalk
  22. Cool. I was just assured by UKswrath that his TB setup does NOT have the static pop because it's not canon. Sent from my SM-T560NU using Tapatalk
  23. Lmao! Yeah, it's hard to have a conversation when according to canon, we can only say "You there." Lmfao. Sent from my SM-T560NU using Tapatalk
