I went to celebration in Orlando in 2013...started building an astromech Droid With the father-in-law. I built all the electronics/remote/dome/led panels/sound/etc while he is working the body. After celebration 2017, decided it's time to aim for 501as well and deciding to go with the shore trooper squad leader...I have the boots/armor on order and looking to close on some of the other soft parts/helmet in the next few weeks. I anticipate this to be to the most heart-wrenching part of the build. All the armor I have ordered comes in rough, but my brand new Orca's arrived last week and they look nice. I think i will have to wear them a few times before i give into weathering these.

Starting my shoretrooper build and I have seen a few articles on rubber vs foam vs resin blasters. I like the concept of one made with rubber since i have little kids who will most likely want to hold it...and drop it. I have also read 3D printed/assembly are most likely to break on a drop. However, I am concerned that the ones made with rubber will be much less realistic. Does anyone have any photos of a finished weapon made of rubber? I would also be curious if the painting/weathering is different for plastic vs rubber. Thanks

I have seen 3D printer plans for Merr-Sonn Munitions Fragmentation grenade, but curious how anyone has done the lighting and what LED or LEDs were picked up to achieve the effect. I have seen posts describing some that could turn on the leds with a twist. Has anyone found something small enough to create the count-down sound effect?
