One small note on the belt details in the draft CRL. Its is noted as white webbing material for the belt and drop boxes, but on the wording for the rear buckles being threaded in front of the buckle it still says white textile straps, shouldn't that be white webbing straps? The belt fastener is made from white webbing material. Drop boxes connect to the belt via white webbing straps. 4 black parachute buckles attach to the drop box straps, one on either side of the drop box. Rear parachute buckles are threaded with the white textile straps in front of the buckle.

There are more differences than the knees being worn upside down, they also only have the one strap, not the lower strap nor the rivets on that strap. The belt drop boxes recessed spots are painted grey like the chest indent. The straps are different on the Mando Scout especially the Bicep armour it's a much thinner strap. The buckles on the back of the belt are reversed how they feed through the clips. The backpack doesn't have any visible connection like the ROTJ does nor does it have the rivet at the bottom of the tank. The chest and back connections are separate and not covered by the strip of canvas. Different flight suit, no flax vest.

The backpack is up next, I had to do some modifications first, as the ROTJ back piece is attached with black elastic straps at the top and bottom along with a rivet on the bottom of the tank. I removed those, added a bracket on the back plate to attach the top of the tank and at the bottom drilled out the rivet and filled the hole (still needs some filling around the edges) and added a bracket to secure the bottom fo the tank down.

Here is an overview for the shoulder weathering. I wanted this shoulder more weather than the other so went heavier weathering on this one. Once the base colour of Light red was applied and wiped down I stipple brush on Burnt Umber where I want to have a dirt layer applied. Then using a clean chip brush stipple and brush the colour in blending it down. There is usually 2-3 layers of this building heavier spots in some paces. I also add in some Raw Umber for darker areas. Then it's adding in Burnt Sienna to create more depth of colour. Then it's a process of smudge/dapping with a scrunched up paper towel to take some colour away and leave lighter spots and buffing areas to have cleaner sections as well. And here are the finished shoulders.

Belt is weathering is next, I wrapped the back belt portion and drop box straps and will weather those when its all back together and on a mannequin so the weathering is int he correct sport. Here's an simple overview of the weathering process. I start with LIGHT RED which gives the base colour to work from. I'm matching the weathering colour to the screen shots, not to the actual costume that was displayed at DC23 as on screen they colour graded everything and gives a different colour that what the actual suit was weather to. I cover the entire piece with oil paint using a cheap chip brush. Then using paper towels I wipe most off it off, this gives an overall base colour to work from, I leave spots a little heavier where weathering will be more noticeable. Then I go in and stipple, and dry brush with BRUNT UMBER, RAW UMBER, IVORY BLACK, BURNT SIENNA and INDIAN RED. Then it's taking a clean chip brush and stippling in the colour smoothing it out and applying layers and layers of colour to get the depth of colour I desire. And the finished belt. The shoulders are next and these were tricky as they're a smooth surface so no creased or edges to work with. I'll do a more detailed overview of the 2nd shoulder as it was a learning experience to figure out that one.

Soft goods look great. Are you sewing your own flight suit? -
It’s oil paint weathering. It’s how I was taught how to weather by a friend who does costumes for feature film. I use Windsor & Newton oil paint, black, raw umber, burnt umber, burnt sienna, Indian red, and light red. Cover the entire piece with burnt sienna then wipe off leaving heavier spots in creases, then it’s applying layers of other colours, wiping, dry brushing and stippling to create the look. The great things is it takes days to dry (actually more like a couple weeks) so you can rework it. And if you don’t like it spray 99% isopropyl alcohol on it and it wipes clean. I’ll do some WIP on the next pieces.

My order was supposed to be 8 weeks but it took 12 weeks. I just received it this past Wednesday. Hopefully they aren’t further delayed on yours.
-
I just received my RS order this week and its as I pictured above. Matte helmet and gloss armour. Unless you are up close you can't tell the difference.
-
I have the RS kit, the difference is the armour is all glossy white and the helmet is a matt slightly off white. I'm going to weather mine for the Mandalorian version so the difference was ok.

Imperial Remnant Scout (WIP)

Looking good, but dirtier yes... But doesn't the flight suit need leg flaps tat go straight across? Wampa's are angled, the screen shots shot no angle. -

The flight suit is wrong, the leg pockets are angled and the onscreen version they are straight across. -

If you want to match the weathering the closest is way is using oil paints that you use for painting on canvas. You cover the piece in paint and then wipe off leaving as little or as much behind. The great thing is it’s workable for a few days, it’s a long drying process of approximately 2-3 weeks. Clean up is with 99% isopropyl alcohol and the great thing is you can wipe it all off if you want to change it. I was taught this method from a film costume/makeup artist and have used it on my Sandtrooper and Snowtrooper. -

When I made my Snowtrooper the chest bar with the red buttons are just glued directly onto the metal. -
Its really interesting to see the concept art for the Biker scouts in the end credits of Chapter 8, they were going for a hybrid of Stormtrooper and Biker Scout. I'm glad they went with the weathered version they came up with in the end.

A CRL draft is underway, its already posted. As for season 2 it will likely be treated as the movies, A Stormtrooper has a different CRL for SW, ESB and ROTJ. If they make significant changes in season 2 then a new version would likely be required. -

SW Fans will know the difference between the two types of Biker Scouts. For the general public they’ll see a clean scout and a dirty weathered scout. They have no clue what’s supposed to be there and what isn’t. If a part is on upside down or backwards or even missing. Look at the Snow Scout they aren’t in my movie no one knows where they are from and beside a Biker Scout all people saw is that ones all white. The small costume details that are different the inverted knees, no vest, no fabric cover on the chest to back armour, Tie Pilot flight suit with leg pockets instead of the black suit with riding patches, and the cucumbebun worn lower under the belt people really won’t see a difference other one is clean and one is dirty. 99% of the General public pays no attention to Star Wars to that degree. You could have a SW, ESB and ROTK TK all together and people will say look 3 Stormtroopers. Very few people see the small differences. The dressing details are not noticed. I have a Snowspeeder Pilot costume, heavily weathered. I can stand with 4 Xwing Pilots all perfectly clean and all people say is that ones seen a lot of action look how dirty they are. Very few people even see the difference between Xwing and Snowspeeder Pilots. Anyway everyone has their own opinion, like it or not these are Canon characters now and making a CRL is required. They have more screen time then a lot of other characters in the SW universe. I’m sure the White Armour and the MEPD have to decide who’s doing the Mandalorian CRL for that TK. The Mandalorian TK doesn’t fit either the current TK or TD CRL’s.
