  1. Welcome to the team
  2. I'd suggest trying wearing the helmet a few times in the heat before you think about this. Unlike a TK, who all seem to have helmet fans, the Scout bucket has a lot of existing ventilation and good air flow. I personally don't have fans - although I don't live in an oven-like region - but I've seen a lot of comments from others who also don't have them. To be honest, your bigger worry is going to be the soft armour: flight suit + vest + ABS over the top is where the heat is going to build up.
  3. Congrats - welcome to the team
  4. I have an Altman helmet and just used a hard hat liner. Because I wasn't sure about the fit, I actually stuck adhesive velcro to the inside of the Scout helmet and the outside of the original hard hat bits then stuck it on - has worked fine for me in 12 troops over the last 6 months. Also did the soft parts myself, using sewing experience from school about 30 years ago and it doesn't look bad. Just make sure you do some test fits with paper patterns before using the actual material. Even the boots were much less daunting than I expected.
  5. Looks good. How did you heat the end cap and what did you use to get the shape? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  6. That's the setup I have - they work well together Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. That's the setup I have - they work well together Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. As Torm said, pouches need to be higher and closer to the ribs on the cummerbund. Also have a look at Pandatrooper's thread for how to round the corners of your shoulder bells. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. I also put the vest on like a t-shirt - the Velcro is only there because the CRL requires it, it's never been opened again! TD magnet set up is in Pandatrooper's thread (the pinned one everyone starts with) and I used it in mine as well : http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?showtopic=15005&st=40 see 25 April post Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Congrats on taking on the rebuild job. I'd suggest forgetting about replacing the ear mesh - just paint the inside area black instead. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. I made the rivet purely cosmetic and followed Mustangman's approach to velcroing the tank to the back piece. This worked incredibly well, as it was less effort than building a shelf, holds tight, is easily removable when needed, and looks pretty good (with some minor "screen-accurate" gaps). (green tape is my attempt at lining up the stripes). Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  12. Also, if your knees are digging in, try lining them with a yoga mat (attached with doubt-sided tape)! I was told to try this a while ago and have now trooped in them 3 times - much more comfortable Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  13. For me it was automatic after 5. Have a look in the forum menu and you should see it as an option near the bottom of the Swinging Ewok Cantina Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Congrats Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  15. Alternatively, try weathering the boots. You won't see the pink under some Endor mud and speeder bike exhaust Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. I did a similar minimal amount of mods to my SC armour, although I swapped out the TD tune for a different colour. It's a good kit, and works well with an Altmann bucket Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. Thanks for all of the support in getting me over the line! Now I can order the right race shirt... Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  18. Last try Repositioned the connections for the zip-ties in the shoulder, so that the ties meet the bridge but the bells can come further forward. Checked and double-checked the drop boxes (last time the strap was twisted), and turned the t-bits:
  19. Inklegg - that is so much better than my approach, which was based on Pandas and involved a lot of cutting into the tube.😃 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. I can't kill you ... the blaster is a fake! Will adjust and get new photos this weekend Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. I'm trooping with it tomorrow so will let you know how it holds up. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. And it seems to work... ... not as solid a connection as it would have been if it all line up perfectly, but I can hold the holster upside down and the blaster doesn't fall out.
  23. Here's my shelf construction - using a couple of plastic dominoes that a local supermarket did as a Disney/Pixar promotion (the same supermarket that NZ's Outpost 42 is trooping at this month to promote Star Wars cards). E6000'd them together, stuck the magnet to them, and then have just glued to the holster. I'm not 100% convinced it will hold, or will not be ripped off each time the blaster pulls on the magnet, so may eventually look at riveting, but let's try the simplest option first.
  24. Ok, I'll try to build it up to make a shelf Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
