  1. I'm alive. Cut the lining out of my wampawear gloves. They actually feel comfortable now.
  2. Love how narrow it looks, some of the issues I have had with others is that they look kinda squat
  3. What size suede was that and what did it run you?
  4. And THEN I got some work done on the first iteration of the undersuit... Added some 1/4" elastic to the wrists as center finger loops to keep the sleeves from slopping out of the gloves and bunching: Followed that with some 2" elastic stirrups to keep the legs from pulling up and bunching, it actually made it really tight down on the shoulders but that is something I will work out in the next iteration: Did some basic work making the suit fit better, took an inch or so from the outside of both legs, maybe a half inch from the inside, a hair in the armpits...ill show off that tomorrow when I get to do a dress out with some pics. Too tired tonight. Needed to add a tiny patch of Velcro right at the neck where there was a small flap that was neither buttoned, zippered, or eye hooked. Turned one of the bottom leg cuts into the mandarin collar... Opened: Closed: Anyways, productive weekend. I'll put up more pictures tomorrow.
  5. Well I got the boots completed...
  6. Roll those bells forward some, they are hanging to the back. Pouches will determine how the bund looks more, I think the length looks fine.
  7. you people and your clothes....COMMANDO....because changing in the parking lot has never tested your stealth abilities more!
  8. You know, I read raglan-sleeved and went "wha?" But then I looked it up and went....OH a Baseball Tee! Dart if you happen to come up with a pattern layout, share please. This will probably be my next piece.
  9. Me either, sadly it will be the weekend before I get time to run the uppers and dogbones to my ma's house for stitching. So unless I hit a windfall of cash earlier than a month from now....guess I'll see if JoAnn's has the fabric for my bund/cod...or start working on the pattern for my vest.
  10. It's before bed. After unpinning I trimmed with the exacto but lopped a bit higher at the back seam so my strips would have something textured to glue to (never used shoegoo before). Since I didn't have anything to make PT's plastic lip with I just used my recently removed shoelaces to pull it in tighter... Worked just fine. Then I was trying to figure out the least messy way to get the glue on for the strips, definately go with put glue on strip, my other paintbrush was file 13 after the initial vinyl application so I used what people in a hurry use when they have already squeezed out glue...a strip of cardboard. And to be honest it worked a hell of a lot better than the brush. I knew the inside section would be the weirdest so I marked how far I needed to get before I masked that section Then it was just an apply-fumble-one handed tape tear operation to get to this point: Peeled the tape back and used the highly technical "thumb rubbing" technique to remove extra glue and here we are. Viola!
  11. Looks like the build is going fine!
  12. OK! Finally got the beasties to give me enough quiet time (of course the day BEFORE I have to go back to work) and so without further adieu... I'll put up some trimmed pics sometime before bed.
  13. order that bund! Looking good though. Keep at it.
  14. I need to nab some of those clips. But the build looks to be going well...keep us informed.
  15. Looks fantastic so far. You are making this look really easy! I'm having more dread about the boot uppers than the entire armor prep.
  16. Looking good Pete!
  17. Yeah, stages. I was actually thinking of trying a flat elastic speedlace (it's a style of lacing not a clip) to see how it sits, fits, goes on before i commit to flats with a speed clip. Also someone small and ginger has absconded with my pushpins and has no idea where they are so I have at least one more trip to the store before I start on the vinyl. Guess I'll remeasure my templates for the boot uppers in the meantime.
  18. Oh and Peter, this is for you...
  19. Alright so cuts were made and I think they look good. I haven't done the front of the boot yet because I wanted to look for some feedback. CRL says heel, I've seen boots with the front done top to bottom and I think that looks odd, so should I just do partway cuts like I have drawn in on the above pictures or skip cutting the front and just run with the heel?
  20. Congratulations! Remember, the walk back is nothing compared to the ride out with a soundtrack in your head.
  21. And the USPS has decided to take the gift of Steve's sneak sneakiness and turn it into a long frustrating wait...
  22. Ok, not cutting till tomorrow so let's be free with the advice, these are my treads as marked...opinions?
  23. Steve is a scruffy looking, sneaky, underhanded nerf herder! I go to the doctor today and when I get back I find a notice that I wasn't home when delivery of a completely unexpected package from AUSTRALIA was attempted. Now I have to chill until the postman finishes his deliveries so I can go get it from the post office. That Steve has some sneak sneakiness to him. On a side note I picked off all the pockets from my two jumpsuits. One of them needs a collar mod and I'll probably pop some stirrups on the legs after I hem them a bit (that's the SwC one). The RK needs legs taken in, hemmed, side pockets sewn, a collar mod. I'll be trying to get to them this weekend. Picked up the LAST yard of marine white vinyl from the store this morning too, going to put some time drawing up for the boot sole cuts, I'll post pics later of that.
  24. That edge weathering looks fantastic!
  25. So jealous. What dremel tip are you using for cleanup of those cutouts?
