Also it looks like the closure on your cummerbund is the wrong way round. Should be right hand side over left hand side. With the TD I think the square greebles need turned the other way up and then the entire TD box rotated 180 degrees. The slightly larger side with the square bits should be on the left with the 2 squares pointed up. And yeah, I'd bring the pouches round so they're closer to the ribs. Should be mostly front mounted instead of side mounted. I can see some excess material sticking out from the straps around the dropboxes. Don't know if it's just because you haven't finalized the attachment and are waiting for feedback before final trimming. Also to avoid issues later I'd round off the corners on your armour. Belt, shoulders, bicep and forearm armour etc. Just a quick trim with a knife and a quick sanding will do it. Save you stabbing yourself with them. I am however insanely jealous that you're at the finish line however.

Quick question as I'm coming up on finishing my belt. Does the rivet at the end actually have to physically hold the strap round the back or can it be purely decorative? I ask as I would prefer to attach my belt strap to the back of the ABS portion by velcro as I tend to have weight fluctuation and that would allow me to easily resize as necessary.

My SC Scout Trooper WIP for 501st Application
Canterbury Tail replied to shenphong's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout WIP
Just looking at the codpiece. Should the stitching not be curved per the CRL rather than an pointed arrow shape? Other than that it looks amazing. -
So about the flight suit....
Canterbury Tail replied to DaringDragoon's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout HQ
You'll probably want to open the legs of the coveralls anyway to make it easier to stitch on the riding patches, so it's easy to take them in at the same time. -
What should I start with first?
Canterbury Tail replied to Huggiebear1974's topic in Getting Started
I started with boots, got the flight suit then ordered the armour (sans helmet.) I've jumped around all over the place and it's been nice because I can work on what I want when I want. For instance just today I did one of my riding patches on the flight suit, took the leg in a bit and glued some webbing into the hard belt for the drop boxes. I'm actually taking the helmet as the last part, that's what will complete it for me. It's on its way from Australia and I'm getting very close to finishing the other bits now. But as mentioned, there's no right way, just work on what you want to work on. -
Just bumping on the question of how far round the back it should go. I've unstitched both legs, which too longer than it should have (damn my decent sewing skills), so am now ready to see about making the new patches.

Wampa has just restocked on the BS gloves. All sizes currently available. Just ordered mine,

Thanks all. I'll see about redoing them this weekend. Anyone got any ideas on how far round the back they go? Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk

Ditto. though their site also is missing the large.

40mm canvas webbing - Canada
Canterbury Tail replied to Canterbury Tail's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout HQ
It's okay. I have people visiting from the UK in a couple of months, I can ask them to bring some. Maybe however you can clear up some confusion. The new Lancer standard, is it 40mm or 1/5 inches, as they aren't quite the same. -
40mm canvas webbing - Canada
Canterbury Tail replied to Canterbury Tail's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout HQ
Thanks for the link. I took a look and their webbing is technically too small for lancer at an inch and a half which is around 38mm and not the 40mm. I thought it would do anyway, went to order some but they wanted $25 shipping for $7 of material. And with the Canadian dollar being what it is right not that's a tad high. I may need to resort to people bringing it in from the UK for me when they come next time as it seems that for precisely 40mm that's the only place that has it. -
So here in Canada I'm having some trouble sourcing some off white 40mm canvas webbing. I accidentally bought 35mm webbing yesterday. Seems everywhere has 1 inch, 1 3/8 inch or 2 inch. Or 25mm, 35mm or 50mm. Can't seem to find the 40mm, or even inch and a half/38mm. Doing some searches I'm only seeing it easily available in the UK for some reason. Does anyone have a source for this? I'd rather just do things straight for the Lancer rather than going for basic and then redoing it.

I originally did my riding patches off the pattern I found somewhere in the gallery. Several of you have kindly pointed out that they're too small, when seen from the front they're barely visible. So I've manged to source some larger pieces of suede and I'm looking for some feedback. Here's a shot of the current suit with the original outline marked for visibility and rough tailor's chalk marks for a few possibilities of the new sizes. What do people think on the possibilities marked for the riding patches? (incidentally it's also my first time trying on the boots and knees together. Knees dig in a little but that's why the straps are adjustable.)

Questions on New Lancer Standards
Canterbury Tail replied to Canterbury Tail's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout HQ
Okay cool, so I'm probably good following stuff from recent threads then. Great to know. Cheers again. -
Quick question today (thanks for that for us non-Pathfinders Chef.) (for reference http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?showtopic=15994&pid=143967&st=0entry143967) When will the new images for the Cumerbund etc be available? I ask as I'm in the process of doing my soft parts for regular membership right now and would prefer to do them to Lancer standards straight off if possible (and due to not having a helmet or gloves yet I don't be able to get my application in before the start of October.) One additional item. I just cut my chest and back armour to allow for the 1 3/4 inch straps between the plates. With the new 1.5 inch standard, will that extra size of the hole in the armour be a negative on the application?
-
Excellent work. I like the loose thread touch I notice on the original boots in that shot that the leg bit is stitched right to the bottom in a double line and over the toe detail strap and not under. I just mention it as you're trying for as close as possible whereas your boot has the toe detail strip added after the leg bit is put on.

Yeah don't have a Facebook account which seems to limit me on a lot of sellers around here unfortunately. I'll just keep checking on their page and their Ebay (though Ebay costs more to Canada than their own site.)

I just wanted to get people's opinions on the dog bone here before I glue it down. Sorry for the fingers, but I needed to hold it where I wanted it to go. Does it look right to people? In comparing with others I think it's fine. Also is it only glued at the ends and left unglued across the middle? Cheers
-
Anyone know how I can get a medium sized pair of these? How often do they restock? Also is the Wampa Wear site safe to order from? It has to be one of the worst designed sites ever, looks like it's just showing the site folder contents and isn't a real web page.

Thanks all. I think I'm good with the flak vest now. Started work on the sleeves and now I have small white threads from the batting all over the place. Going to take a while to clean them out.
-
Cheers guys. Interesting, in that second set of shots the flak vest very clearly has a polo shirt type of collar folded over.
-
Here's a question. Just how much of the flak vest should be visible around the armour? Should it be visible from the front and back? If so by how much. I've started on mine but once you take the collar off a regular crew neck t-shirt with the SC armour it disappears below the armour line at the front. It's also got about 4 inches visible at the back also on the SC which seems like a lot. I know it needs to be just below the shoulder bells on the arms, but it's the main torso plates I'm concerned about. I'm guessing however there's no visibility below the chest and back plate as the cummerbund goes up to and under the plates.

Welcome to BS.n from another Canadian candidate. Lots of good information here so just ask around and take a peak at everything. No question is too dumb (unless it's when do you get your lightsaber.)

How to people store/transport their armour?
Canterbury Tail replied to Canterbury Tail's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout HQ
Oooo, didn't see that in Canadian Tire. May pick one up. While more than the $54 USD one from Home Depot it doesn't involve 2.5 hours of driving to get, and I have to go to Canadian Tire anyway. Cheers for that. -
I started a thread on this just a week or so ago. You can find it here. http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?showtopic=15684
