Nothing there....?

Thanks Kris. I haven't totally lost my Star Wars mojo. I will try to make it to a Comicon sometime and give the Imperials some grief

Sooooo. It's been some time. I have moved from Italy back to the UK - Wales to be precise. Life is different, priorities change and with much soul searching I have decided to retire from costuming. I am 63 this year and although I dont have one foot in the grave, I do remember how tiring trooping was when I last did it in 2017. I loved it but it can take its toll. So, my part complete armour is up for sale. I have all the parts: 3D printed armour, jacket, trousers, gloves, boots etc. If anyone (probably in the UK) is interested, drop me a PM and we can discuss the finer details including price which I am very flexible on.

I can envisage the use of a Pauldron being a nightmare given the already restricted helmet movement which is mainly caused by the raised neck piece. Given that I have heard that "if something cannot be seen on a costume, it doesn't need to be represented", would it be acceptable to omit the neck piece as it will be covered by the Pauldron? At worst, the lower front parts of the neck piece may need to stay where visible but they would not impede helmet movement as much.

Are you adding the shield as an optional accessory - not required for clearance? Im not sure yet and everything is packed up for my move back to the UK so the WIP is on hold. However, the shield is rather interesting........
-
Have a look at my WIP. There are some photos of my 3D prints and another of the finished leg armour. I have a problem fitting it over my heel but will wait until I am back in the UK where the boots are and sort it out then. My fault for having big plates of meat

You got me at Pauldron..... Now I didnt wake up today thinking "I must search for a Riot Shield online". But I am: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005925130863.html?src=google&src=google&albch=shopping&acnt=494-037-6276&slnk=&plac=&mtctp=&albbt=Google_7_shopping&gclsrc=aw.ds&albagn=888888&isSmbAutoCall=false&needSmbHouyi=false&src=google&albch=shopping&acnt=494-037-6276&slnk=&plac=&mtctp=&albbt=Google_7_shopping&gclsrc=aw.ds&albagn=888888&ds_e_adid=&ds_e_matchtype=&ds_e_device=c&ds_e_network=x&ds_e_product_group_id=&ds_e_product_id=it1005005925130863&ds_e_product_merchant_id=768439093&ds_e_product_country=IT&ds_e_product_language=it&ds_e_product_channel=online&ds_e_product_store_id=&ds_url_v=2&albcp=19213868044&albag=&isSmbAutoCall=false&needSmbHouyi=false&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjw34qzBhBmEiwAOUQcF5sTBS0dnOi3ifAHIp2RiH1gO6ACijMmQzFiE8mI_gyQ_oUNYtDm0RoC5GcQAvD_BwE&aff_fcid=8286da4645fb454a890c9f7147eacc51-1717771748627-05504-UneMJZVf&aff_fsk=UneMJZVf&aff_platform=aaf&sk=UneMJZVf&aff_trace_key=8286da4645fb454a890c9f7147eacc51-1717771748627-05504-UneMJZVf&terminal_id=87d46e21a90b410d8d46af5c5b0f479d&afSmartRedirect=y This could form the basis for the shield but cost/modifications may mean it would be easier to start from scratch.......

Did you trip over an Ewok?
-
I bought a pair of these but have yet to modify them: https://www.marksandspencer.com/it/loose-fit-stretch-chinos/p/P60544035.html#index=0 They are a good fit for me - not too tight, just a little loose. I hope they work out.

I found a ladies lambskin leather jacket in an Antiques shop in Wales for £35. Its tight around the chest but it can be let out using the sleeves as material, add a zip and replace the sleeves with ribbed material purchased from MrPoopie.
-
Fantastic! Thanks. I am living in Italy but hoping to return to the UK around September so it can wait until I am back. Posting to Italy (and its inept postal service) is a nightmare - not to mention customs and VAT on imports from the UK......
-
I am in the midst of returning to the UK so progress has slowed a little. However, I have a leather jacket and ribbed material for the arms en-route thanks to MrPoopie. So, the jacket may start to take form soon. In the meantime, I decided to print MrPoopies helmet as I think its a more accurate design than my Etsy purchase. I was worried it would not fit my head but it's perfect. I am working on it now..... Can anyone recommend (or have to sell) green lens material. Previously I had to buy an entire face shield for £25 from the UK.

I am securing the belt items now but need to know if the pop studs I have bought are ok. They are a sort of gun metal. Some photos of the PT seem to show them as black but the CRL images seem more gun metal to me. Advice?

At least it's fire retardant. I could have done with that when I trooped as an Incinerator. I thought you were in the "wouldn't it be nice" phase I await the WIP......... -

Well, I dont believe it, but after all my trepidation about doing the belt - it's nearly finished. I have yet to figure out how I will attach everything. The belt closes behind the right box using a combination of velcro and magnets when on the abs section. When finished, I will be able to partially suit up and see what it looks like.
-
Yes, I too was wondering whether to fix the baton in permanetaly. I will see how my idea works first. Once, when I was a TK Incinerator, I had my TD pinched by some kid. Luckily, the Officer trooping with us saw the urchin do it and retrieved it. I will avoid velcro this time.
-
Thanks. Its never too late. I actually used the rubber belt material to create the back and flap for the boxes (covered in faux leather of course). I haven't worked out how to attach them to the belt yet. Your method is an option and is indeed the way I reinforced the abs section - which was made using a rubber mat material the same as the belt. You are right - all those grooves form a great surface for glue! I made the leather boxes full of trepidation but I think they look ok in an Arts & Craft Patrol Trooper sort of way. The entire belt is nearly complete. Two things to address: maybe some small rubber strips in the baton holster to stop the baton falling through and some sort of support to stop the TD from sloping downwards due its weight on the belt.

Thanks Justin. It's good to know I am on the right track. I just checked the files you sent me but could not see the bridging TPU section you mentioned. It doesnt matter now as I have made them. Its starting to come together nicely now. I can't wait to start policing the Empire.😀 Any thoughts on my second question regarding the buckles: On some photos they seem to be attached to the front armour and on others to this bridging section (which seems to make more sense from a functional point of view). Is either arrangement ok?
-
So, the belt is going well. Next question regarding bridging the gap between the front/back upper torso armour. I have printed some TPU sheets for flexibility and intend to glue to the rear piece and velcro to the front. If properly trimmed, would this sort of arrangement be ok as it will be recessed from the main armour. Or, will it need to be flush with the armour? My second question regards the buckles. On some photos they seem to be attached to the front armour and on others to this bridging section (which seems to make more sense form a functional point of view). Is either arrangement ok?
-
Thanks - Thats sounds sensible. I shall give it a go.
-
OK. I have attached the straps and buckles to the chest section and they line up nicely. Photo later when I have worked out how to add the side extensions to join the front and back. Meanwhile, The AB section is complete and now requires some braces to hold it up. I can work all that out. My question is regarding the belt. I have all the parts and will soon buy some leather (or faux leather) to cover the three boxes. In everyone's experience (and I know there are not a lot of us), where and how is a good place for the join in the belt? Should I try and hide it at the rear behind the TD or the front behind the big box. Any suggestions? Does anyone use concealed fixings to close the two ends or rely solely on velcro/magnets as part of securing to the AB section?
-
I must have taken a stupid pill today. I have nearly finished the ab section you can see in one photo and yes, used MrPoopies TPU parts - which are great. I can print something flexible to bridge that gap. Brilliant!
-
Thanks Kris. It wasn't something I had thought about until this exercise of donning the armour. But yes, it needs some extensions to accommodate my pizza fetish. Maybe MrPoopie has something up his sleeve to help me?
