A good rule is to have the distance be the same as the space between the ribs. Looks pretty good, maybe a touch to much space.

Taken from the the CRL, the requirement is the other way around like most of the screen used ones were. ”The rectangular part of the thermal detonator greeblie, fixed on the left side of the detonator, is the same as used in the rebel Endor trooper rank badge. Nice pictures! I agree with all your points. Most interesting will be too see the size of the boot closure, bund closure etc that will be a deal breaker for basic if it's not right and it's such an easy thing to get right it should not be wrong.
