Flight suit sizing help
mikemakesmovies replied to mikemakesmovies's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Soft Parts
Okay actually after trying it on again it’s not too bad and definitely fixable with some well placed elastics. What the problem more likely was is my now tiny bund making it harder to move. It’s definitely still tight in some spots when sitting down or standing from sitting but if I can place the elastic in some solid places it should be stellar. The placement I was thinking would be a sort of upside down t shape to give some more stretch along the axis with my kidneys and across my spine Edit: after exploring the suit a little more, he put about an inch of excess material at the arm and chest seams which is already surged and sewn almost like a seam in a t shirt and he did tell me that there are spots that can have the seams taken out. It won’t solve everything but it’s a great start and should help improve some mobility Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Flight suit sizing help
mikemakesmovies replied to mikemakesmovies's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Soft Parts
It is a full suit with the suede and all. Made by kiptontop. A super nice suit but just doesn’t fit me how I’d like so I’ll probably list it on the trade forum and start from scratch. I have to remake a bund anyway so luckily it shouldn’t set back my build too much Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
So my flightsuit showed up and after trying it on it’s just a little too tight to move around too much in. Walking is fine but no bending over and I’m not even sure about sitting. I attribute most of it due to having an extra long torso and regular sized legs. What would be the best way to fix this issue? Or should I just put it up for sale and order something else. Can take pics if needed Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Alright I’m back again and this time for good. I have a flightsuit and flak vest on the way. I have to get some elastic for the shoulder and bridge cover and do some final work on my boot holster and I should be finished. I’m just doing my TD and I feel like the size of the ends are huge compared to my tube. The tube with cable on it is sitting at 1.5 inches. Any wisdom would be appreciated Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Well I’m nearly there. My to do list consists of -weathering my boots -making the flak vest -getting and making new flight suit -making a new nose greebie peice since that one is cracked -finish strapping on chest armor i made one backwards -building the td Are there anything anyone can see at this point that would hold me back from lancer? Progress galore today and I am over the moon with how it all looks. Proportions are near dead on and the weathering in my opinion is balanced perfectly. The bund and everything is falling in those photos but one of the last major things to do is the flak best and I’ll attach some velcro to that so everything stays up and I’m on the home stretch Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Perfect. Have you had any issues removing the velcro and having the hook side pull off? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Was able to make a pretty good jump today with a few hours before work. Got the most tedious part of the boot build finished and curing, and I used some 3m foam tacky stuff to hold the snout greeblies on for now. Just had enough surface tension to keep it from falling off for now and I’ll replace it with the new plate when the new greeblies come in. Still somewhat stumped on the chest and backplate join at the shoulders but I’ve got some time to brainstorm. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

How does everyone do connect their chest and back bridges? Is there Velcro on both ends and then some webbing to hold them together but have some bend? One piece of hook velcro between both bridges? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

That was my first thought but the peices are so small I’ve only found two so far and I was hit in the ankles by about 7. [emoji23] I’m probably going to just try to either pry off the greeblies or just sand it all off the back very delicate and precisely Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Well sadly disaster struck and literally as I was going to glue the snout greeblies it fell off the table and the backplate corner shattered. I’m not too worried about fabrication of the backplate but I epoxied the greeblies on it so who knows if I’ll be able to get them off. But progress has been good so far apart from that conundrum Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

So I am in need of a pair of donor boots. Would the soles on this work or do these vary too much in color and texture Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Been a while since my last update since life caught up with me but I’m back and with a vengeance and I’m gonna finish this scout fast. And by fast I’m hoping for this week so I can go to the diamondbacks Star Wars night in full uniform. So far everything is going smoothly but I was just curious if there is a certain height that the helmet is set at. About where are the eyes supposed to lay in the visor? Closer to the top or bottom? Or is it just personal preference? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Thanks! It was up a bit higher before the photo but the weight of the pouches pulled it down a touch so I’ll probably put something on the flightsuit or flak vest to make sure it won’t move but I’ll make sure to keep it all in mind Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Really chugging along now. I’ve got all the armor done other than the chest and back and all soft parts other than boots and flak vest finished as well. I might redo the cumberbund but as it stands right now it’s good for my purposes. Helmet is still getting there but hey. I’m really starting to look like a scout now. However my helmet looks massive and I definitely don’t want the bobble head effect. It could be due to how I’m holding it. I’m definitely a little skinny for a stormtrooper but since I’m 6’1” I feel like it should look more proportional. Any thoughts? Are there any other smaller helmets that would be better for me to save up for and just use this to get approved? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

The belt box webbing. After some other research it looks like you could use either so I’ll probably use some Velcro for the waist belt Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Alright, thanks again to everyone for the help on the strapping because I've got most of that finished up. Next up is the belt and once again I'm at a loss. I know that webbing is strapped through the buckles so they don't actually buckle but as far as other belt fastenings how do they work? Is there a buckle on the back of the belt webbing or is it velcro? Could someone point me in the right direction? And since I don't want a pic free thread here is an obligatory "wear what I've got" picture -
