  1. Looks like all the advice is pointing towards the Altmann forf the best fit for my big noggin! I appreciate everyone's help narrowing down my selection.
  2. What's everyone's thoughts on the quality of the SC lid? Will it work on somebody with a large head?
  3. What modification work needs to be done to the SC armor for Lancer status approval?
  4. Does anything need to be done to the Altmann for 501st approval or Lancer status?
  5. I've begun to narrow the field down to three: Altmann, RS, or EFX. Any thoughts?
  6. Thanks for the quick reply. I could go either way on the helmet, kit or completed. I'm leaning toward a Altmann but I'd be willing to build from a kit if the Altmann turns out to be too pricey for my budget! Unless, I find some nice armor on the trade forum, I plan to build myself. Probably, SC. How long is the wait on the MC? I understand it's the most accurate? I will probably commission the soft components. I'm not much on tailoring, but I enjoy model building and finishing so the hard armor shouldn't be too big a challenge for me, I hope! The boots seem challenging but doable, I think. I'm not familiar with the Wampa Wear gloves. Where can those be found? I will probably get a military-style flight suit. I wear a flight suit at work, unfortunately it's navy blue. I'm hoping I can get a deal from the vendor we use at work for a black one. I like the suggestion on starting with helmet and armor. That's what I'll plan on doing (once I can decide which vendor to go with!) Thanks again!
  7. Just beginning to plan my Biker Scout build and was wondering if anyone could offer their recommendations regarding best sequence to purchase and build all of the required components to minimize delays in the build. Wondering things like which components have the longest backlog at the vendor, what components are the most difficult and time-consuming to build, etc. Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks!
  8. I know this is an older posting, but I just ran across it. I'm from Baton Rouge too! I'm just getting into this and could use some help. I'll PM you. Maybe we can meet somewhere so I can introduce myself and pick your brain a little!
  9. I'd love to see the pictures, as well. Hope you can find time to post. Like they say, pictures worth a thousand words!
  10. I'm new to the forum, but I've read in other threads where the LW kit is hard to come by. Is this still the case? If so, why is that? Out of production? Backlog? or something else? The LW kit seems to be universally admired across the threads in this forum but nearly impossible to acquire: I'm just curious why that is.
  11. I'd also like to know how the SC bucket stacks up against some of the others. Can anyone who has one shed some light on the subject for us new folks?
  12. Okay. So, if the LW is hard to come by and the Altmann is available only to those who are already scouts, I'd be interested in your recommendations for my first lid? The RS,KS,or something else
  13. I like what I've read about the Altmann. Any ideas where I can pick one up?
  14. I'm in the market for my first helmet. I'd like to get the best I can afford up front. I've got a large head (7 1/2 ball cap size and about 23cm circumference). I would like to get a product that doesn't require extensive work to meet 501 standards. I've been researching through this forum for several months and had pretty much narrowed my search down between the LW and the KS based on my understanding of their quality and size. However, I have recently seen postings about the Altmann and the RS which I found intriguing. I thought the Altmann was pretty much impossible to come by anymore but I have seen recent postings where folks are still able to secure these helmets. My impression of the RS is that, although it is high-quality, is more of a collectors piece than used for trooping. Hoping to get some guidance from those with experience in this matter. Thanks!
