I added some old binocular lenses to both sides of the scope on my Hyperfirm blaster. I tore into a old set of small Tasco binoculars I picked up for about 15 bucks about 10 years ago from Bass Pro. They were not very good binoculars so I didn't feel too bad about destroying them! I drilled a hole all the way through the center of the scope and then inserted small diameter (about 5/16" O.D. as I remember) into the hole, leaving room at the ends for the lenses. I then reamed out the end of the scope housing using a rotary tool and a round file to make room for the lenses. The lenses were of different diameter with the larger diameter in the back and the smaller diameter in the front (rear lense is roughly 7/8" in diameter and the front lense is about 5/8"). I inserted the lenses into place where they are held in place by friction alone. They can be pried out if necessary, but they're not going anywhere! I didn't want to glue in place to prevent glue from obscuring the lenses once installed. You can see some distorted images through the small opening, but there's a lot of glare from the reflection of the light on the aluminum surface of the tube. It looks similar to looking down the barrel of a pistol or rifle into the light. I think it looks pretty good. I did it to try to be in compliance with Lancer standards when I get my TB costume completed. I also drilled out the center of the barrel. The heat of the drill slightly distorted the barrel opening so I cut a 1/8" piece of the same 5/16" tubing to restore the original shape. I painted it black but some of the paint has worn off and it gives, what I think, is a real authentic look to the business end of the blaster!

What color webbing should I buy, the natural or the white? I'm assuming the natural could be used without having to dye the white to an off-white color. But I've been wrong before....once or twice!

I was wondering if the tank decals that came with the SC kit were adequate for legion approval. I see where Trooperbay offers tank decals. Can I just use the original SC decals or are the Trooperbay decals more accurate or an improvement in some other way? Eric

Removed my liners today. Super easy. The liners were only attached at the cuff. 1. Turn gloves inside out (the hardest part but not too bad) 2. Cut into both the black and gray layers at the cuff. 3. Using a sharp blade, continue cutting (through both laters) around the edge of the cuff and the "V-shaped" panel on the top of the Agilent portion of the glove. 4. Grasp both layers of liner and pull toward the fingers (the liner will pull off just like, dare I say it.... A glove. 5. Turn the glove right side out again ( much easier task once the liner is out!) As expected, it does fit a bit looser with liner removed. I plan to wear a cotton glove liner inside for to absorp perspiration. It should snug up the fit just right!

Yeah, that was my confusion on the blaster with sound. I was referring to a 3D blaster that gmrhodes13 (Glen) modified with sound effects. I don't know how I got that mixed up! http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?showtopic=11418

Oh, I was thought I had read the NegativeEleven were usually outfitted with electronics. Seems like I've seen several postings where troopers said the kids loved them: I just assumed that was because they had lights and sound effects. Maybe that was a misunderstanding on my part....

Howard, Does the NegativeEleven come with the electronics or do you have to acquire them separately?
-
Okay. Thanks for the info. I definitely would like one if you do decide to begin production again! Thanks, Eric

I'm interested in seeing a review of blaster models currently being produced and offered, whether kits or finished models. If you have one or more models, I'd appreciate if you could share your impressions with us. I understand it the following blaster are currently available: DVH (Lou) TPE (Niko) Hyperfirm (scifire) Negativeleven (Chris) Based on what I've read on this forum, I'm not sure if the following models are still produced or not: UGP Hotshot The Duku (Duff) blaster looks like it is currently out of production. If I left out any other offerings, please add it to the list.

Okay. I did manage to find the Negativeeleven's thread on budget blaster afterall. I'd still like to take a look a Lou's blaster offering...

Does Duff still offer this blaster? The Trade Forum thread for this blaster seems to indicate that Duff has been inactive for some time.
