This is a pretty good alternative as well. With the right weathering, it's a pretty good boot. Minus the seam down the side, it's pretty darn close. Brown or tan should be ok if you weather it. Brown will need to be lightened up for sure. https://www.amazon.com/Eastland-Daily-Double-Chelsea-Brown/dp/B00CF7H5WC/ref=sr_1_9?s=apparel&ie=UTF8&qid=1490039527&sr=1-9&nodeID=7141123011&psd=1&keywords=brown%2Bdouble%2Bboot&th=1&psc=1

Cummerbund is also ribbed all the way around. The snout is different, as well we the shoulder bells. And there's a new red decal on the back of the bucket. And the chest is shaped differently, especially around the neck. Those are all what come to mind immediately. As for a CRL, like the animated clone stuff, it'll have to be it's own CRL, and the costume would have to match the look and feel of the rebels show, rather than be a realistic version of the costume. Meaning, many people probably wouldn't want to make it.

From one of the costume designers:

Are you planning to attach it to the inside of the ab? I attached by wife's on the outside, but realized later that it would work just as well, if not better, attached to the inside.
-
That clip looks really good. Edges could be rounded a bit more. But if opting to use a belt clip like this, how will you attach the thermal/back plate? Snaps on the sides of the belt? Clips?
-
Yes, for sure black.

I totally agree. With the go-to list above, you're pretty safe. Most people I've seen are using these colors. After a few of us spent way more on paint than we care to admit to test, this was the best list we came up with.
-
Yeah, that's what I thought, and emailed them about it, but they confirmed. I mean, it didn't look THAT green to the eye, but still... yikes.
-
Here's a 'coyote brown' that I bought from ebay compared to my darker brown belt. Way too green, so just be careful that you know what you're buying.
-
I'd be careful with the coyote brown. It can look a little too khaki green, I guess depending on the maker. I went with this: https://www.amazon.c...e?ie=UTF8&psc=1 And here's my belt. (I'll be fixing that double box last)

I tried the spa blue and thought it was way too deep of a blue.

Thanks. tinypic.com seems to have dies temporarily.

But the neck seal shown here isn't affected by the lighting at ce3. Since the whole neck is in shadow from the harsh, terrible lighting, it's only affected by the flash, which if anything, brightens it up. I'm not doubting your man saw a brown neck seal somewhere, but until we have visual proof, it can't really be used as reference for us. We need to be the source of the information, and prove, with reference material, that we're correct, or we can't require something be a certain way.
-
I added a little to reduce confusion. I just referenced the traditional (classic) TK so people would know it's based on the old look but with new details.
-
Evidence for this is in how the weave of the material lays compared to how it's cut. Here's a rough illustration. If it were square, the weave would run parallel to the bottom hem, not at an angle.
-
One thing I think most people miss is the slight slope from the back to the front. The back of the kama is slightly higher than the front so the pattern would need to reflect that. But other than that, I'm not sure what else would need to be changed.
-
If you're wearing hip armor, you'll use the Brown Belt with the associated greeblies. But if you choose to wear a Kama (Squad Leader), you will use a black belt with associated greeblies. They are both made of a nylon or polypro material. 1.5" butted together to form a 3" belt, with a zig zag stitch in the middle. Here are some nice diagrams made by Billy Haggis.
-
The chest and back are connected with straps on the shoulders. There are some buckle greeblies on the front of the chest, but these don't seem to be functional. There's a raised collar that goes completely around the sides and back of the neck. On the Back, there are some specific greeblie details inside each 'Box'. each box is approx. 4". Paint Scheme varies. The Grunt has no extra paint, while the Squad Leader has a blue stripe along the top with a yellow design above the oval indention on the left. The Captain is missing the yellow detail, but has more blue along the top half of the chest.
-
Paint Scheme varies slightly. The Captain has a blue section on the left side. Looks as though the entire ab section is one piece with a backplate covering the opening in back. It's been debated as to whether it's 3 pieces (plus back piece). Paint Chipping in the groove where some think the ab and sides are separate. This pic makes it look as though it was all molded as one piece. The backplate looks to be held on by snaps. Should be hidden from view anyway.

This one in Brown (or tan), weathered and scuffed up, should work as well. https://www.amazon.c.../dp/B00OYFJH2Y/

And here.

Agreed. I'm curious if we'll actually see that in the movie consistently though. With the toy marketing, and with the vast amount of reference we have so far, all we've seen is the one Behind the Scenes pic of the hip armor, squad leader. That seems more like a costuming error. But hopefully we'll see the same in the movie at least once.

Biceps and Shoulders are very similar to a traditional TK. The biceps have the raised and beveled coverstrip and close in the back by overlapping. There is one red Bicep with three yellow squares on the right, and one tan bicep on the left. The Shoulder paint schemes vary depending on the variation of the trooper: A 'grunt' has two tan shoulders with the right shoulder having a black trimmed, white stripe. The Squad leader has a half blue, half tan shoulder on right with a blue shoulder on the left. This also has the black trimmed, white stripe, and under the stripe, it is left tan. The Captain has a tan right shoulder, and an all blue left shoulder (with the black trimmed, white stripe).

Call me crazy, but I don't see brown here. Maybe if we can get a pic from the costume that had a brown neck seal. I do agree that it should be part of the whole, but I've just heard conflicting reports. in the end, it shouldn't matter as long as the look is the same.
