Fiberglass helmet crack repair
Fistful of Energon replied to Fistful of Energon's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
Unfortunately. Such is my luck though. -
I finally received my CB. Though extremely happy to finally have, i have discovered 2 small cracks. They aren't visible while worn but a problem nonetheless. they are located where the visor mates with the back half of the helmet (im sure there is a term for this so please enlighten me) right where he installed straps for the chin cup. I have ordered some zap a gap as per a suggestion from a fellow 501ster and intend to use that to repair crack then reinforce that with some Fixit Sculpt that i do currently have. if anyone has alternate methods they are more than welcome.

I did some more cutting and sanding today and managed to get the back and the top glued together. We used zap a gap and its held like a rock. -

KS helmet help
Fistful of Energon replied to Fistful of Energon's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
yea, I see now that the visor needs more work. Here are some mock up pics of how it looks to best fit to me. Feedback is encouraged! thanks! -
ok, I have been working on my KS helmet with what little free time I have and this is where I currently am. I welcome any feedback. I have a little sanding left to do but i think im pretty close to being able to start gluing. my biggest challenge at this point is figuring out how to piece it together. the top and back side of the helmet looks self explanatory but the visor and faceplate has me a little stumped and I dont want to make a mistake. any recommendations or advice would be greatly appreciated

the quality is pretty good, there are a couple small imperfections but nothing like I have seen elsewhere

Thanks! I just got my KS kit yesterday, on May the fourth (how appropriate)

My SA gloves have arrived!
-
Hell, I would love to take some, but everything is either on transit or production
-
Is the lens that comes from KS not dark enough? Ive read that there might be inconsistency with how see through they are.
-
Contacted SA about gloves just to give it a shot and it turned out that he had one small pair left with a minor flaw in one of the gloves, I totally bought them! Gloves done!

This was the email that I got from them: I am unaware of any unaddressed concerns about parts we have shipped, but note that there has been some confusion about the visor edge and how it is to be cut from the form. The portion of concern is aft of the cut off point (to be discarded) and not on the finished part. In the past, we had cut straight up along the aft edge, and rounded the pivot point of the visor. Recently, implementing better reference, have elected to further emphasize the visor point like the originals, and cut down from this point. When receiving the kit format of the helmet parts, there is an indentation in the region to be cut off, and this has led to the concerns you are likely reading about. We had not realized that this would be perceived this way, and will be tooling the model so as to allay this concern, but it will not affect the models, save those who want to use a direct straight edge up past the visor pivot point in the builds.
