  1. There are 2 EFX helmets to be made: the Legend which is ABS (and comes with a Scout pistol) and Limited Edition (LE) that is fiberglass. Though no one knows when these will be finally released. People who ordered the Scout directly from EFX were promised a free Vader PCR plastic helmet. Till now only US customers received theirs, and I can understand why, considering the crazy shipping cost for international customers who intended to order a Vader helmet directly from EFX - that would drive EFX bankrupt: As for EFX and their product quality they made some really great items in the past, but they have their fair share of damaged collectibles with bad QC, not to mention lack of communication and long wait time for both new product or replacement for damaged ones.
  2. Glad to hear your helmet arrived in a good shape now. My old one, besides the 2 chin cracks, had indeed a badly fitting visor. Hopefully the replacement will be here this week, and by looking over the pics here I think the face plate finally fits reasonably well on the helmet. I already have black material from LW to add inside behind the ears. Didn't even talk with RS about refunding the international payment until I see how the helmet is And you are right about EFX, no international customer received their free Vader PCR helmet. I think the shipping cost is so big that it would bankrupt EFX LOL. Look how much it costs if you want to order a Vader PCR helmet directly from EFX, freaking insane:
  3. Some were cut more and some less. This is close to what the RS original helmet looks like. Also compare the cut on these 2 screen used lids:
  4. My replacement is on its way as we speak. It is one on the FB pics.
  5. I wouldn't mind the return shipping refunded to me, but I would accept a RS T-shirt instead LOL. The one they sent me is only good for a kid.
  6. I don't mind the wait, I mind the lack of communication.
  7. And that is my own LW helmet Jez showed on StarWarsHelmets site
  8. Very encouraging
  9. Exactly. Having a good vac forming machine is extremely important, but the true dedication in making every prop you create as good as possible is as important too. In fact it is more important than the tool you use.
  10. Did anyone who has a damaged RS Scout helmet receive their replacement yet?
  11. My RS was not sturdy. It had a very thin chin. Not sure if you own or have held a LW in your hands, but the moment you do, you understand what I'm talking about. The difference is obvious. RS might be more accurate (though mine with the bad fitting visor looked like it hit a tree before being packed) but not as sturdy as the LW. And RS is still missing a few things like the interior black cloth behind the ears and accurate head band, things which are again not really excusable considering the lineage, the price and what we should get. I have my fair share of RS stuff in my collection, and their Scout is my least favorite so far. And it is only their fault about that. They need to prove they can do more. Right now they didn't...
  12. When I compared my LW with the RS I was amazed how light the RS was. Being light or heavy is not an issue for me, but some parts are indeed very thin on RS and thus they prone to cracking - which happened to my RS
  13. I'm very glad my RS Stormie armor was not a direct commission from RS.
  14. Did they just sent you a damaged helmet they received from someone else?
  15. I thought it was the replacement helmet that will arrive this week, since I received a UPS notification from RS. In fact it was the helmet stand I ordered for my old First Edition RS Stormtrooper helmet which came without a stand back then. So no sign of the replacement Scout lid... PS. The RS helmet stands are nice, being clearly inspired by Master Replicas, but no problem from my part on this resemblance. The issue is that the resin in the base is quite badly cut, you need to add tape on both the helmet support (the one with the RS logo on top) and on the rod that fits in the base, all this because otherwise the stand is floppy and will fall apart. OK, did that easily. I also added small furniture pads on the base not to scratch the furniture, all my stands RS or not have this. Long ago I ordered a few wooden helmet stands from a FISD member named Hdtheater, his stands were awesome, made like professionals - solid, furniture pads installed, Imperial logo on them, simply great. On the RS stand I received 30 minutes ago I had to cut up in the plaque holder part on the base because there was resin remains there and the RS plaque didn't fit. One disappointment after another with RS. They simply shell out products, one after another, but QC is minimal or non-existent. Replacements take ages to receive, if ever. They were the best once, now it is just sad.
  16. The material quality on the LW is much better than on RS, it is more solid and the interior head band is more accurate, it also comes with the black canvas strips behind the ears. RS has very thin parts, mine arrived with 2 cracks on the chin, and visor didn't close properly. Very disappointing for such an expensive helmet. I also had to pay for return shipping. In the end despite the minor inaccuracies the LW proudly compares to the RS.
  17. My replacement helmet should arrive this week. Curious how it will be packed this time, and if they managed to fix the faulty visor.
  18. Agreed LW is way much sturdier, and better made. You can see John really cared about making the best Scout helmet. And he succeeded.
  19. My own RS Scout helmet damages: 1. Chin cracks - it is way too thin here 2. Bad fitting visor - no matter what I did it wouldn't close more than that There was also a paint scratch on top of the lid on side but that I would have considered battle damage, if the other 2 problems weren't there too.
  20. I would do the same if I didn't have to pay international shipping myself. RS did it wrong, they should pay shipping back to them not me. Unfortunately it's not how it works with them. I had to send my damaged one back to them last week. Another package from them was posted my way later the same day. The thing is despite the damage to my helmet, only the visor had cracks on the bottom and a bad fit, the helmet itself had only a paint rub, otherwise it could be repainted and used for any other good visor - but the only place for my visor (once the lens and greeblies removed) would be in trash, unless they want to repair the chin cracks in a way that won't show later.
  21. They should address the faulty wave 1 replacements too...
  22. Thanks, I guess this is it: http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?showtopic=10270? The one coming with the RS helmet is not too good alas.
