ya, you guys are really helpful with the lancer apps. I'm used to everyone jumping in with whats wrong. "cover strips are too wide and the belt is 1mm low" and thats it. LOL
-
Is it possible to round corners on the belt!

His bicep armor almost looks curved at the top. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Congrats brother! Looks fantastic!
-
Chris, if my local shop is out of the replacement shields, I'll definitely buy it off ya.
-
thats a spot on description and the close up really helps! Thanks for the pro tip brother.
-
how many did you need for the butt flap and the riding patches? I need some for my build.
-
Shoes are in progress. I see a msg to Marcel in my very near future.
-
I also picked up this busted up helmet that needs lots of work. It's an obvious recast of something because it has the softest lines I've seen. On the plus side, its bigger than the KS. Any ideas what this thing was?
-
I wont lie. This KS helmet is wonky and that's saying a lot coming from the TK world. The sides of the visor are literally different sizes. That made getting the faceplate completely square and centered. I did go get some carriage bolts from the hardware store and I'm waiting for the better snout from Lou. The lens KS sends is way too thick to use so I'm going to stop at a local welding supply shop here in town and get some replacement shield material for the lens.
-
Thanks Jim! For Lancer, does it require an exact size? I thought I read it was 2 inches above the knee.
-
Looking great brother! Can you share the tip about the collar? Did you use the material from a pocket to make the collar? I'm doing the same thing this week so any advice would be helpful!
-
are the patches two parts? Is there a good template to work from?
-
Great advice brother! I'm waiting for my vest and flightsuit now so I'm holding off on sizing the belt and boots until I have them in hand to really know how big/small to trim those parts.
-
The flightsuit arrives tomorrow so I'll post up pics dressed up for adjustment review and tips. Only thing left is the boots I'm trying to pull off myself. If that fails, I'll send Marcel more money. The snout is coming from Lou I have a vest on commission from a local seamstress and the thinner elastic for the lancer knee toppers. Light at the end of the tunnel...

Chex, Thanks for the info. I went ahead and just copied what I saw in the lancer threads and used velcro in the back of the belt. I'm waiting until my RedKap suit arrives before trimming the drop box straps and attaching those. I'm not planning on requesting Lancer, but I'm building to Lancer spec if that makes sense. I went for Centurion on FISD and it was a really bad experience. I'll post up some progress pictures once that jumpsuit arrives. Jim, Thanks brother!

Also, when in doubt - check the lancer submission threads. You can read about 5 or 6 of them and see what others have done and copy their layout / cuts / etc.
-
Good luck bro. I'm just wrapping up my SC build. I would look over the instructions so you have a good idea of where things go and what's included. Once you have a grasp of all the parts, follow PandaTrooper's build thread instead of the instructions for the Lancer stuff. Good example is how the instructions tell you to rivet the belt parts. My advice would be go slow and enjoy the process, take pictures, and ask questions.

the visor is next on the chopping block, do those marks look right?
-
Danger.. Danger!!! DO NOT CUT THE DOME lol. We're good. No plastic was harmed yet.
-
Hey Chris, When you say dome.. do you mean the top dome part?
-
I went and used the pictures of the screen helmets and shaped my faceplate "opening". If its bigger than the lens KS sends, I'll be OK. I have welding mask material I can get for 15 dollars and trim it to fit. Here are the updated faceplate with pencil marks for the new cuts I'm considering making on the visor area.
-
thanks man, appreciate it

Hope this is the right place to start a helmet WIP. If it's not, please move it where it needs to go. I just got my helmet kit from KS. Here are the pictures from the unboxing: IMG]http://i1244.photobucket.com/albums/gg562/isaacaz/C6248109-99AC-4EA9-99EB-D7B5F487672E_zpspiiympla.jpg[/img] Does that pencil mark look about right for the lens trimming on the faceplate?

I have a TK (Stormtrooper), TI (Tie Fighter), and a custom mandolorian right now. Joe nailed it. Stormtroopers are fun but they hurt and unless you have the perfect body/build, the armor migrates a lot and you'll never notice that your thigh armor is tilted funny until you see the pictures later. It's great because everyone knows what you are, but you are usually just another Stormtrooper in a group. If you love OT, you'll make a Stormtrooper at some point. Trust me. Tie Fighter is my favorite right now (still building my TB). It's easy to wear because its a jumpsuit with a chest and back piece. The helmet is big and gets better air than the Stormtrooper helmet does. You can walk up and down stairs without a problem (Stormtroopers cant do stairs without bleeding). Stormtrooper helmets can be hard to see out of. The con to the Tie Fighter is everyone thinks you are Darth Vader unless they are in their 40's and had the action figures. The other problem is Tie Fighters dont photograph well. Shiny black armor just blends together in photos. The Tie Fighter visibility is worse than the Stormtrooper. You cant look down at all. That being said - It's a rad costume and I've done a ton of troops in it. The TB (Biker Scout) blends the best of both worlds. Its white armor on black so it photographs really well. You dont have thigh armor so you can walk around, sit down, and kneel down for kid photos without getting stuck. Biker Scouts have the most mobility and because the visor is so big, you can see everything. Those are just my personal observations about wearing the different costumes during troops. TK kits are easy to get and you can get them sized from normal to larger sized. TI kits are harder to get and take longer. The flightsuit mostly dictates the size so no worries on sizes. TB kits are easy to get and fit with elastic so you size them to your body. In the end, build the costume you loved the most as a kid. You'll be the one who sees more pictures of yourself in the costume you pick than anyone else, so make it one you like to look at. Good luck man

Got my gloves and never posted pictures.
