  1. Okay, just to verify...the strap width mentioned in the Lancer specs is wrong? I just sent Marcel a PM - maybe he can clear up the confusion and/or update the specs...
  2. I agree - I'd go with the Wes. I'll have to check out a couple Wal-Marts in my area to see if they have that style.
  3. Okay, that kinda makes sense now...
  4. Forgive a relatively 'newbie' question, but are there currently THREE sets of requirements? 501st, Pathfinder, then Lancer? I understand 501st gets you approved for the Legion, and Lancer is the 'best of the best' on this site, but what are the Pathfinder requirements, if any?
  5. I had to dig througha few threads to locate these, as I'm not finding the Gallery very user-friendly (maybe it's just me), but here are two diagrams I've found for the thigh suede patterns:
  6. Okay, here's what was recently posted over at 501st for costume requirements. I don't think there was a vest image last week. Does anyone know if this is the real deal or fan-made? It appears to be a combination of several of the proposed styles, and matches the diagram from Boba Leo/Tom Arroyo. **EDIT** - 4505Marcel posted yesterday about the updates to the 501st requirements, which now includes this pic on their website.
  7. Uh-oh... Seriously, though, the more pictures and input, the better. I mean, if we're going to do this thing, let's get it right!
  8. Good info from all, thanks. In that case, I should be able to use my old Fett vest pattern as a base (shorter height, with a bigger neck opening), and just design the new sleeves. I WILL, of course, refer to this thread when applying for Lancer status!
  9. I haven't been able to find a decent shot of the vest itself, and I've heard there are different camps concerning fabric choices and design, with respect to Lancer specs. Are either of these designs close to the screen-used vest? Are both or either of these acceptable for Lancer requirements? I want to nail down a design, once and for all. At the very least, could someone post a diagram of the correct design?
  10. Hehe...'bout dang time! Yeah, on my last one, the scope was...crooked...but I think it was the way it was stored from the previous owner.
  11. Yeah, I do the same with mine, but I add the top-stitching to the edge the keep a more defined edge. Great minds think alike! Another thing: I noticed the pattern posted on the website is split into parts; my pattern is all one piece. I'll post a diagram once I map out the new dimensions.
  12. I have contacted said buyer and have been told he is no longer producing helmets. As such, my choices become limited.
  13. Hey, Debbi, thanks for the welcome and the compliment! Yeah, you know I always have to do things MY way, so I thought I'd better ask before I set needle to thread.
  14. Ah, you're right. I see it now!
  15. A few years ago, I owned a 'Nerf-style' Scout blaster, made by someone over on the Dented Helmet (I got it second-hand). Does anyone know or remember who that was? It wasn't perfect as far as accuracy goes, but it sure looked nice in the holster, and of course, was EXTREMELY light-weight. I wish I'd kept that piece!
  16. I'm planning on purchasing a KS helmet kit in the near future, but had a question on construction. I've seen the Altmann's helmet in the past, and there was a seam along the back of the dome, where the dome meets the back piece. I understand the KS helmet is done the same way. Was the original screen-used helmet constructed this way? Or was it one-piece? In other words, in order to match the screen-used helmet, would I need to putty/sand the seam and paint the helmet? Is there a good shot of the original helmet to support this?
  17. I'm new here (kinda), and have a couple of questions before I dive into my Scout costume... I've looked through the threads, but couldn't find a definitive answer: is the one-piece (combined) cummerbund/vest approved for Lancer specs, or does it have to be two-piece? Secondly, since I do my own sewing, I plan to do my own pouches, but I make them two-ply for sturdiness. Here are a couple I did for Fett projects: If you'll notice, there is no stitch line to indicate a Velcro closure, visible on the outside flap. I prefer it this way, as it looks nicer. Aside from the dimensions, which I'll work on later, is this design an approved look for Lancer?
