Black vinyl nose detail. How to add.
Smiling Fox replied to cucblack's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
Not to argue (I prefer the painted look as well) but it doesn't look like the issue is addressed in the CRL. I may be missing it, so correct me if I am wrong. -
Yep. There weren't a lot of hiking boot options back then. Still, it could be worse. ROTJ Stormtroopers have white soles.
-
With a black sole. Which I always thought would have been appropriate with ours too.

I sewed mine on with a heavy duty sewing needle. I have a standard late 60's model sewing machine. No problems at all.
-
It looks like your cummerbund is showing under your belt. Lower your belt then raise your thigh boxes up just a bit to make up the difference. I, too, agree with Chef on the weathering. A little goes a long way. All in all, you wear it well, which is great.

Whether or not John is or isn't working for Lewis, he is still representing his company. If you are being sold something through the company, it IS his business. His company name is on the transaction.

Toss it. That is the Rubies version of the fishhook. It's not even close to accurate.

flak vest and riding patch finishing touches
Smiling Fox replied to Skinner3D's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout HQ
It looks like the problem might be at the top of your sleeve. Shorten the length of the shoulder, where the sleeve attaches to it, and that will bring the sleeve up to the proper length. I have an old Singer sewing machine from the late 60's. It's not industrial, just a regular one. I pinned the riding patches in the proper place, double and triple checked the positioning and then took it slow. It did the trick the first time, no cutting, no hand sewing or gluing. If you take it slow, you should be okay with a regular sewing machine. -
another snout painting question...
Smiling Fox replied to spookymufu's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
Use painter's tape and it off. It should be painted to about half way between the two edges. Be careful on your masking so that it is perfectly round on the top. Take your time and do it right the first time. It doesn't hurt to redo the tape until it looks right. Much easier than having to remove black paint. The tape WILL bend slightly so you can "wrap" it around the top. As I said, just go slow. I used flat black on mine. Remember to leave the inside unpainted so you can attach the snout. -
From a distance no one will notice. Up close, it looks like you've been around the block a few times. Let it ride.
-
Mine is sewn around the waistline. You can go lower if it's still covered by the cummerbund.
-
Wow. Outstanding work.

Budget replica weapon seller
Smiling Fox replied to NegativeEleven's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Weapons
Bad quality weapons from what I understand. Go with Doopydoo's. -
Welcome. I have seen some of the ladies (and a few guys) here who are about your height. It does take some mods to the biceps and shoulders, which shouldn't be too difficult. Maybe some off the chest. I am fairly short and got away with just a few mods. You can get your soft parts made smaller as well as your boots. All in all, very doable. There are a lot of folks here who can give you much better info and maybe even a few in your area. As for the purple... No, it won't clear, but hey, we have a pink snowtrooper, why not a purple scout?

I have had both. The Stanley 24 gallon with wheels was too small. I went with the 50, which is way too big but at least everything fits. Before buying the fifty, I went with a cheap 30 gallon tub I bought at Walmart. The kind with a removeable lid. I just put it on a luggage carrier when I wanted to wheel it around. It was a pain but there aren't a whole lot of choices. Now at least I can break my sniper rifle down and carry it along.

My personal opinion is, the scouts are specialized members of the Stormtrooper corps and, as such, are qualified with the same weapons. Although we don't see the E-11 or DLT-19, there is no way any military force would send troops into battle without a primary battle rifle. All the scenes you see the scouts in, they wouldn't have had the chance to grab their weapons. They are constantly being surprised or caught in the middle of something else, unlike TK's, who are standing guard or chasing Han. I think there were some E-11's they just didn't get to. That being said, whether I believe it or not, it wasn't in the movie and I highly doubt it will ever be added to the CRL. Maybe JJ will have a scout or two in Ep. VII and we can have some better weapons.

The difference in the gloves is more to do with the artist creating light and shadow instead of two different gloves. Even though it is not screen accurate it has always been my favorite rendering of a scout. For all intents and purposes, this is what a scout would do. In the muck, hunched down with rations and his weapon. Had I not moved 1300 miles from my tattoo artist, this was my next tattoo, screen inaccuracies and all. As for the electrobinoculars, Doopydoo's makes a great set or parts to mod the Sub Assault game. Sadly, they are too big to fit in our pouches. Since they aren't cannon though, I am sure someone could mod some small binoculars or even a hand held range finder.

I own KS armor and helmet. The armor is ok, with a few modifications. I had to send the first helmet back because it was a bad pull and two different colors. The second one is still not great but I made it work. Every pic I have seen of their helmets show the same bad spots on the ears. I would also note the way the helmet is built makes the sides want to warp outward. The faceplate has to be carefully closed and secured down with velcro. My advice, go with MC or SC. You will start out without any regrets.

Those things are god awful ugly. You can do better.
-
If you have access to a sewing machine and basic sewing skills, it is not difficult. It took me a couple days each to complete mine, working a few hours a night. No one should have to wait almost a year for soft parts. That is not right.
-
For about $40.00, you can get Sith Armor gloves that are much more accurate. It may take a bit longer to get but it's worth it. Check the rest of the forums here, there is info about them.
-
I tend to believe the scouts should have another weapon as well. Common sense would tell you that you don't send any troops out without arming them. And a holdout blaster just doesn't do it. That's like sending troops out with only a snub nose revolver for defense, even if you are only scouting, it's not logical.
-
Whoa, two different CRL's. I hope someone is going to clarify this before I am forced (not really) to get a BFG.

It actually doesn't look sloppy at all. I wouldn't wear it like that if it were. It isn't even noticeable.
