The only canon weapon is the holdout blaster. Outside canon events, you can use anything you like. I know, it seems monumentally unfair but thank the maker for that one.

I just got an SE-14 from them. They do great work.

Yeah, those 501st guys can be real jerks when it comes to quality props.

Remove the snout greeblie and decal, those are awful. MonCal sells an excellent one piece snout, I recommend that. You will have to sand it down a bit as it's for a larger helmet than the KS. Get some satin black paint and paint around the snout (it should be half black around the front). You can then attach the snout. Rip the mesh out, paint the inside of the helmet black around the back. It's supposed to be a hole. Replace the decals. Trooper Master makes an excellent set. The visor should not be warped. KS strikes again. If you can heat it a bit without warping it, you may be able to bend it back into shape. Without a few more photos, it's hard to say. Good luck.

That is way too much weathering. Light weathering is acceptable but it should still be white not tan. You have some work ahead it you want to get it approved. If you are just wanting it to display then it's just up to you, if you like it, great. As far as the chip, it can be repaired. A patch piece of abs and some bondo should do it. If you are going for approval then sand it all down, repair it and paint it all. You can get a nice snout piece from MonCal and decals from TrooperBay.

I like the one on the right. It looks different but still something out of the Star Wars universe. Excellent creativity.

Looks good. I used black elastic in mine. Just so it would flex and match my jumpsuit.
-
Be careful opening and closing the visor. Mine has a tendency to foul up if I don't push in on the cheeks before closing it. You might also want to heat up some spare ABS bits and glue them to the inside of the back to reinforce the shape. It likes to bow out otherwise. The joys of owning KS.

My first troop with some older scouts really was a shock. Some of them looked awful. I'm talking rubies helmets, old, black tactical uniforms under the armor, belts worn over bellies, rubber boots, you name it. When I asked them about them doing upgrades they just looked at me like I'd killed their dog. I tell people this is one of the toughest and most expensive costumes you can build. Even after getting two other costumes and joining the Rebel Legion, my scout is still my proudest accomplishment and most favored of five costumes.

Real Esprit Gloves on eBay
Smiling Fox replied to Smiling Fox's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Soft Parts
Yeah, I know. I need a small. Too bad I couldn't shrink them down in the wash. Hopefully, someone here can use them. They look great. -
I just ran across some vintage Esprit gloves on eBay for a decent price. They are XL's or I would have them for myself. Starting price is $75, buy it now is $100 with free shipping. If you can wear that size, you might snatch them up while you can. Good luck. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-ESPRIT-Gauntleted-Motorcycle-Gloves-with-rain-covers-XL-Free-Shipping-/131465279493?&_trksid=p2056016.l4276

Well, obviously I can't see a thing in this helmet.

Scouts don't have armored shins. Are you referring to the boots? As far as cutting the armor, it may require some trimming of the back and chest, perhaps the belt, depending on your body size. There are plenty of build threads on here to check out when you get ready to do your armor.

Snout Greeblie and one more question
Smiling Fox replied to stasz's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
I got mine from MonCal fairly cheap for my KS. Get a hold of him and he can help you. As far as the inside, I got some MICH pads for military helmets off eBay. They come in different sizes, are removable and can be placed wherever you need for comfort and support. -
How loose is the bund? It looks like it could be tightened up a bit so it isn't so bunched up.

KS vs NI Helmet Comparison
Smiling Fox replied to UT Trooper's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
All KS helmets look like that. The first thing you have to do is replace all the decals with the more accurate ones. The nose should be painted, not a decal, and the greeblie on a raised base, which means it must be replaced as well. No one is going to include great padding, that is just something you have to personalize yourself. KS is notorious for bad pulls. It looks like yours is pretty good considering. I had to send mine back because it was so bad and the helmet was two obviously different colors. All in all, it can be made into a good helmet but requires some work to make it your own. -
Maker of all leather TB boots?
Smiling Fox replied to Pandatrooper's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Soft Parts
I actually like those a lot. I am curious if there is a hiking boot base under or if they are custom. They look like they still open at the back but they don't look as bad as the normal stovepipe shaft. -
I wouldn't suggest weathering off of just that. Even if you did weather the helmet, it will still look like bad decals over helmet weathering. Get some new decals and start over.
-
I don't think there is a debate any more. Scouts do have a chin cup. Many of us don't wear them because they don't come standard on most helmets but it is supposed to be there.

Anyone have pics of KS assembled armor?
Smiling Fox replied to Gato's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
I don't have any pictures handy but I have KS. Are you looking for where it should sit properly? I can answer the thigh box question though. Yes, they are approved. However, walking around with other scouts with normal sized boxes is like taking your cousin to the prom. Everyone will point, giggle and generally feel sorry for you. Seriously, it's not that bad, but it certainly does stand out and not in a great way. I still grimace when I compare them. -
I have to say, I like that a lot.
-
That is just part of being in costume. TK's wearing accurate rubber gloves have it almost as bad. SA gloves are fairly stiff. If you roll and unroll the leather over and over this will help (maybe a hundred times each). You can also get some leather conditioner and some saddle soap and soften them up. We don't wear our costumes enough to break them in like you would work gloves. Like Chex said, you can remove the lining to give you some more dexterity. But beware, this will make them loose on you which may be worse. If you can get a size too small then remove it that would be better.

grey tube for thermal detonator
Smiling Fox replied to caaw's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
I have a KS kit. I painted the black tube flat grey. It turned out great looking and I have never had a problem with peeling or chipping. It will save a ton of looking and stress.
