I was just thinking about this picture the other day. I remembered someone had made one that turned out great. Didn't he sell it?

I use the MICH helmet pads. They are removable and can be set up in any configuration to fit. You can get them pretty cheap on eBay.

White vs Off white pouches and straps
Smiling Fox replied to cheesewhoopy's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout HQ
Ultimately, it's personal preference. Whatever you like. I've seen both that look great. I have off white but it was just because I found a pair of pouches for sale. If I had to sew them too, it would have been all white. -
Wire wrapped thermal detonator
Smiling Fox replied to cheesewhoopy's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
I think your wire may be a bit too big in diameter. The correct wire isn't round, it's flat on the sides and rounded at the top and bottom. I can't find it now but there was a thread posted not too long ago that showed someone with the correct wire. -
I don't think any one of those pieces is the proper shape. That is weird.

Lancer accessory Kit overview

Now, I haven't read the latest CRL but is the trading card required for Lancer? -
PhinScout WIP...questions need answered!!

I also glued mine so there wouldn't be too much tension on the rivet. I didn't want to take the chance of the fabric pulling away at the rivet. -
Bring your belt down some. There shouldn't be any of the cummerbund showing below the belt on the sides.

Looking to start my soft goodspot wial waiting for helmet
Smiling Fox replied to ZilverNight's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout HQ
We have several tutorials on this site. Check out the soft armor section. You're going to have to sew the riding patch and flap on. You will also have to sew the cummerbund and pouches to fit you as well as the flak vest. -
I wrap my helmet in a cloth and then clamshell it between the chest and back armor in the bin. I have never had an issue with it being protected.

I am 5'6 and have KS. Like Stasz said, this is an easily customizable costume. I have seen several men and women around your size who look great in this costume where another armor type might not work as well. It just takes a bit of work.

They look like Sith Armor. If so, they are way too expensive.

Finished...I think. Waithing on approval.

Well done! Everything looks great. -
Making a new Bikerscout armor
Smiling Fox replied to Strider's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
Very nice. Where do we send money? -
Both can be approved. SC will probably be faster and with far fewer problems.
-
I made mine with the front showing just above the armor. The back, as Chunk said, comes up several inches above.
-
You might also consider sports glasses or (what we called in the military) ranger glasses. These have a strap instead of ear pieces and fit closer to your face so you can wear a helmet.

Comparison of MLC, D'chef, LW, SC Armor and Helmets
Smiling Fox replied to Strider's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
Looking at those reference pictures, it's really surprising someone hasn't made the thigh boxes closer to that size. -
Your belt should be ok but try bringing your belt boxes up a bit. They also need to move forward as they are riding too far back. Some good full body side photos would help here. I'm not sure about the flak jacket sleeves, they look a bit long to me but someone else can probably weigh in on that. As Cheyenne said, the rank stripes don't belong on the holster. I know some kits come with them but that is a no go. You might also check the shoulder bridges, they look uneven. It looks like the one on the right (facing us) is a bit long. It might just be the way they are positioned though. All in all, not bad. You aren't far off.

I wrap mine up in a heavy shirt and clam shell it between my chest and back plate. It keeps it protected and saves space. I hate carrying my costume separate like that. Too much of a chance something gets left or misplaced.

Forest Ranger's Tree Dodging Scout Progress
Smiling Fox replied to Forest Ranger's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout HQ
That was my first piece. Then the boots. Congratulations, there is no going back now. -
They make, arguably, the worst armor out there. Horrible products and not likely to be approved no matter how much work you put into them.

If you have their super-sized blaster, you have to have the giant holster. I think the blaster weighs around 4 pounds (kidding) but is nearly indestructible (not kidding).
