I had that "Want to troop NOW!" feeling too. You'll get there, and it's worth the wait. You might want to bring your armor to the troop, and if you know someone with a helmet, ask if you could "look at it" for half an hour or so (of course you would happen to have your armor on when you "look" at their helmet...from the inside of course)

Yep raise the knees a little (maybe trim them down a little) (maybe trim a little more off the shoulder bells too) I made 4 sided boxes for my pouches, very easy to do with some very stiff cardboard or poster board, and you can still use the pouches to carry things. Looking awesome!

OFF TOPIC ?!?! What in the world can you use a rivit gun for besides armor! Shame on you sir for spreading lies and rumors ON TOPIC Nice build and progress! I glued my back tank on also, but then added the rivit to the top and bottom after. I just think it's more stable.

Overwhelmed! Correct Technique? Where do I begin?
Fool replied to a topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
The advise I used (and it was very good idea) is to start with the chest, and work out from there. Look at the pictures from the movie. It was very overwelming for me too....at first. But once I started (on the chest piece) everything just started falling into place and it turn out very easy IMHO. Get those pictures up and we can help. -
I had to post the pictures here, I don't think that it will be obvious at the con what it is meant to be. My buddy's gun (that he is making) is way cooler in style. I has glowing electric wire running throughout it. Both of us tend to go a little overboard when we decide to do something We have no idea if we will enjoy the con or not, we are just going to see Abney Park. But as long as we are going, we might as well dress the part. Also, we decided to "dress" on a budget, neither of us can spend more then $50 on everything. The total cost of my gun is about $6, in parts.

Yes, this is the finished product.

Me and a friend are going to see a band (Abney Park) at a steampunk con....My first thought was to build a biker scout steampunk costume....I decided that one month was not enough time to do that, so I just made the blaster pistol. Here are the pictures. And yes...sigh, I did spell blaster wrong....

I agree!

Exactly what I did. one side of the snap is on extra abs that is then glued to the shoulder. the other side of the snap is through the elastic. I have one snap on each shoulder, and one elastic strap with a snap at both ends. If that is not clear, let me know and I'll take some pictures.
-
I used snaps. I made a hole in spare white abs plastic, then put the snap in that (I also heated up the plastic to form into the shape of the armor for a better glue area). then glued it to the shoulder. It holds together great. I did use velcro for the rest though.

SC Kit Purchased - anyone want to help?
Fool replied to Uplandmacenter's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
I just finished my SC armor a month ago. Trust me you have not bitten off more then you can chew. altogether it does seem daunting. Just take it one piece at a time, and you'll be fine. Ask questions here, everyone has been more then helpful to me durning my build. One of the best pieces of advice I got was to start with the chest and work outward. -

Would this be acceptable? -
With the boot tutorial they are very easy to make yourself. And a lot cheaper.

I also have a KS helmet. While mine was not 2 different colors (that's really bad) mine has the two imperfections that yours (in this post) has. You can see my submission pictures here --> http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?showtopic=9137&st=40 For me they were no big deal. A little back ground, I am a tool & die maker. I always thought the things that were "made" toys, plastic items etc. were "perfect", Tool & die beat that out of me There is tolerance built into everything and imperfections happen. You cannot see them at all in my helmet. I know that they are there, but no one and I really mean no one will ever see them. Except for me. My biggest problem with the KS helmet (I have no experience with any others) is that I had to take a heat gun to every part to get them to fit properly (I got the kit). The base was too wide; the visor was too wide for the face plate. The top was twisted. But I assume that every build has their own little problems inherent in the process of how they are made. I don't mean to beat up on KS. It's a great helmet! I love mine, and I really enjoyed building it myself. I guess what I'm saying is that I doubt there is a "perfect" helmet. The real question is can you live with it? I know I can

DONE! (for now) I guess I'll send these to the GML's.......and the GTLO's (do we have a Gym, Tan, Laundry Officer?)

Thank you, and yes I agree with your assessments. I was wondering which way to slim down the pouches from a prior post. The ribbing can be redon. Butt flap can also be redone. I am already planning to slim down the legs. These are the types of critiques I am looking for. Thank you all for the help and nice words along the way, I really am chomping at the bit to get trooping. Also I do plan on getting it dirty at some point and go lancer, but I need to take a break after finishing this, to work on whatever my next big project is.
-
Yep I mentioned the cloth bridge, (vest is also needed now). The knees still only need the one strap (I will be adding the second reguardless). Which direction would you take in the pouches a 1/2"? And do others agree on that Thanks for the information also! Opps I also crossed the back strap to the thigh box....disreguard that part, I see it!
-
Here are some better pictures. You can't really see the seude in the pictures, but it's there. I need to finish the vest, and the white cloth bridge over the shoulders on the armor. Then I can submit pictures, unless you see something that I have missed. And here's me with the other armor I have made.
-
Sorry for the poor quality, but I found myself home alone, with a camera I don't really know how to work I still need to take more off the shoulders, finish the tank details, and to finish the vest. I think everything else is done. And here is the reason why it's taken me so long to get done.....yep it's a cats fault!

I got my boots done today. Worst holster for a gun ever......ever.

Must have a suede or faux suede butt flap attached above the waist hidden by the cummerbund, rectangle in shape. The flap should be slightly narrower than the width of the trooper and stop slightly higher than the bottom of the troopers butt cheeks. Suede or faux suede thigh patches must be present, extending over the flight suit crotch and down the front finishing above the knee armor. The thigh patches must be secured by 50mm (2") black elastic, sewn in under the front and back of the thigh patch. VEST Made out of black matt finish heavy weight cotton fabric. Sleeves should be padded and contain ribbing similar to the front of the cummerbund, the sleeves should end just slightly longer than the bottom edge of the shoulder armor. Must have a much wider neck opening than the flight suit. Secured at the back using 50mm (2") black velcro. Nothing too bad, just extra to do before getting to be a pathfinder At least we know that 4505Marcel is thinking about all the new troopers butt checks
