  1. I had a minor setback yesterday. I made the wife mad and look what happened! Needless to say, I didn't make much progress this weekend. No, she wasn't trying to weather it. She told me to "get your [butt] home or I will destroy your [Kashyyk armor]". I decided to call her bluff. As you can see below....that was a bad idea. Luckily, my paint had been curing for about two weeks, and a little turpentine took the black paint right off. I'm sure you can imagine my relief when I saw the black paint transfer off onto the turpentine soaked cloth. I washed the turpentine off and you can't even tell it happened. My weathering even stayed on since I had a solid clear coat over it. I'll have to redo the cod since that is cloth. I'll just repaint that when I paint all the pouches. I was also lucky that my helmet and newly painted calves were put away in the house. Moral of the story...don't explain to your wife how paint bonds together, and what "curing" means. Let her think a little paint will destroy a costume. lol. Note: This only works once
  2. I finished with the greeblies. I found it was important to take Mrbungle's advice from his "How to" thread and fit the tank topper before painting. I ended up having to cut the hole out and fit the topper in. Then glue plastic inside the tank to hold the topper in. All this was done after I initially painted it, so I ended up having to sand and repaint the top of the tank. Would have been easier if I fit the topper before painting like he suggested
  3. Your Kashyyk Scout is looking good! It's really hard for me to tell paint colors on my monitor or else I would comment on your samples. I say if it's pretty darn close then go for it. Try it on one part, let it fully dry, then do some more comparing to screen shots. So what did you make your glove greeblies out of? Those look really good.
  4. I used Valspar brand house paint form Lowe's. colors: Grove (the green) and Chesnut (the brown). Both matte finish.
  5. I would like a set. I have paypal funds set aside. Will send you a PM. Chad
  6. Sweet! Thanks for the detailed pics! Chad
  7. Excellent. Both ways make sense. Thanks guys. Chad
  8. More progress! These are the tools I used to cut the "sunroof" out. And some detail shots of the weathering.
  9. I know this is an older thread, but this is going to be very helpful for the cummerbund/belt attachment. Now you attached the cod how?
  10. Awesome, thanks Tom!
  11. Matt, what did you make your pouches out of?
  12. Thanks guys. The base color is Spectramaster Code YS317 (an automotive paint that I sprayed on). It's pretty close to what MB uses. I have everything painted except the shins now. I should have bought my soft parts while I was waiting for the armor so I can be closer to finished by now!
  13. Painting is the fun part! I've been working on this for about six hours now. Time for a break. I got a little excited and forgot to cut the slots for the shin straps before I painted. I'll have to do that before I camo those up.
  14. And we now have a Sun Roof! I used a drill, exacto saw, dremel, and a flat file. Thanks for the measurement, Mrbungle.
  15. I didn't get a chance to cut the hole today. Was thinking about using an Exacto knife saw blade. It's like a mini hand saw.
  16. Thanks boss! I was wondering about those rectangles too. I was referring to the very top of the visor where it looks like one rectangular hole on the top of the visor. I can't tell if it's an indent or if it goes all the way through.
  17. I started with the armor first. I got a pretty decent start this weekend. I cheated and used black primer. Question: am I supposed to cut a rectangular hole in the top of the visor?
  18. What did you use for your base color? Chad
  19. In the CRL discussion it says "Krylon Khaki Tan" for the base color. Is that the latest and greatest, or is the mix you have shown here the best so far? Thanks, Chad
  20. Those helmets are so cool looking.
