  1. Nice Job! Can I get a WOO HOO for our newest Lancer? Congrats! J.
  2. It just occurred to me that you may not have access to the Legion Boards........ I think Jim also sells these on eBay.... do an ebay search for "Aker Voice" The seller..... Txbadger72 is the same guy I bought mine from although, I got mine off the Legion board.....all this assumes that Jim has not had his identity hijacked on eBay. The seller has 100% positive feedback. He is good guy to deal with and has probably sold a five hundred of these to troopers all over. HTH, J.
  3. I use an Aker voice amp from Jim over in the Lone Star Garrison. They are available on the Legion Boards. The amp fits in a pouch the wire runs under your chest armor up to the mic. No static burst...no distortion. That is most canon. It is must for an active trooper...without it, you end up yelling a lot and it is much harder to interact with the public at troops. There are several models, mine was the 10 amp version and it it plenty loud. It is in the $50.00 range. J.
  4. Rich, all I can speak from is my experience in armor builds. I have built my TB, a TK, partially finished a TI bucket....... I have MC armor....his instructions were clear, and when added to what is floating around on this forum, made for an easier build. I would strongly recommended this kit. My 2 cents.... J.
  5. Way to go Amanda! Sorry...I just HAVE to........ AWWWWWW How CUUUUUTE! J.
  6. Got mine from MC as well..........
  7. Same thing JediJennie said........ also.....use a lot of pins. When you bunch the leg up to get it over the machine table, the suede and fabric tends to shift.
  8. My batting goes all the way around, and in the cod piece, although, I did not use quite as much in the cod. I attached my pouches to my bund using a velcro sandwich.... The back view here shows the velcro that attaches to the black velcro on my vest This side shot shows how the pouch flap flips over the top of the bund...this gives it an extra measure of support and is attached to the BACK of the bund with velcro.......this sandwiches the pouch flap between the bund and the vest, via two sets of velcro.
  9. The end of my vest sleeve tucks just under the top of my bicep armor.....
  10. USe automotive pinstripe tape from the local auto supply store. pick one that looks like the right size. If all they have is double pinstripe, use that, but cut off the extra stripe prior to applying.
  11. Sorry I lost the handle on this thread.... I took a pic of my bucket and forgot to post it. Here it is: my lens is #3 welders face shield, cut and glued in place.....
  12. I have fifty pieces of velcro snarled up in a know inside my armor build box.......so I cut off a small circle of fuzzy, black velcro, and glued it to the "button" on the grip of my blaster. It is the same size as the diameter of the "button". I then glued a piece of white hook side velcro to the inside of the holster. It stays put. I will probably be going to magnets when the velcro eventually pulls off.
  13. Just for example....I only have 5 stripes on my tank. I wanted it to be a little different, and I did not like the look of two or three.....
  14. I would also add that when I installed these, they hold my bucket steady. It does not wobble around on me and I dont have to worry about the chin cup. I will take a pic when I get home......
  15. As I said, I would love to find out how well that works with the one speaker. As for the Aker.....I can't say enough good about it. You can also rig it up to play a sound loop (like is available on the legion board) in addition to your voice for "Ambiance"....it really gives a good impression of radio traffic........
  16. Yeah Kenyon freaked out when I told him I had the 1" pads..... The size worked for me. I cannot recommend the Zap pads enough...they are great.
  17. US Cavalry..... here: Team Wendy ZAP pads
  18. Frank, I used the boot reference pic and marked everything before I cut....Basically, I was trying to duplicate the screen caps from the gallery. I wanted to try to duplicate the wide, narrow bit just forward of the midsole.....The rest I followed the lug pattern on my boots. They are target boots, but no the Merona Dave uses....they were the 19.00 boots discussed about a year ago. This pic was before I re-did the tops of my boots.
  19. I went down this path. I had in mind that my bucket should be self contained......... After messing around with a few ideas, and with the knowledge of small speakers that I gained over in Saberland, I opted for the Aker voice amp set up. The hollow snout would give you better volume for resonance but I am not sure how that would play out in terms of volume without experimenting. It would be cool to see that played out. I was worried about volume level (without distortion) and how a speaker that small would work. I have been reading about the self contained speakers over at FISD (Stormtrooper detachment) and I am not convinced that they would be the best set up. Sure that would be cool to have, but in my mind the function and the volume of the Aker wins out. Some guys (TKs) make the small speakers work...... I am not sure how well this would work for a TB sized speaker. To answer your question, check the FISD...I can't find the link for the thread, but I seem to remember discussion of speakers over there. Let us know what you find out. J.
  20. I used a green #3 welding shield that I cut into lens shape and hot glues into my bucket. It is sorta tricky getting the curve right but in the end it worked fine. I have never had an issue with seeing anything or people seeing my eyes. The inside of my bucket being dark helps. I used the army helmet pads that are removable and washable. They were expensive, but way more comfortable than the helmet liner I first tried to rig up. There are multiple pads that can be placed wherever you think they feel best. It works well for me. Speedglas bolts I used DID NOTwork with my MLC.....bolts were too short. I had to modify them (taking the speedglas bolt head and attaching it to a longer bolt. I have not had any issue with that setup. J.
  21. I really like your magazine...how did you make that? J.
  22. I also had the same confusion and it was made more confusing by the fact that MC could get you and bundle with his armor an MLC helmet.......
  23. I have a MLC that came with a chin cup. When I put my army helmet pads inside, they were tight enough that I did not need the chin cup. I would recommend trying the hard hat liner first......the chin cup might be less comfortable for longer troops.... Just my opinion. J.
