ive been goin crazy trying to find the right base color. for my camo colors i picked up the same stuff chad used, but for my base im kind of torn. here are to color i picked up. are either of these ok to use. ______________________________________________________________________ i also did a crap load of trimming and drilling and sanding today. hopefully i can do some glueing too. my biceps, shin, and for sale sign pieces are all trimmed, sanded, and ready to be glued together. let me know you opinion on the colors.

can you post a link to the leather you got.

nice work dude. had bought some fake vinyl leather but its much too stiff to sew onto pants. should i use some left over grey cloth from my cummerbund or paint some leather from the thrift store.

thsnks so much chad. i made them very cheaply. haha i made them out of craft foam and glue. i got some craft foam and got a bunch of screen shoots and carefully drew an outline. i cut all the little pieces out and glued them together. i then coated them in like a bunch of coats of elmers glue. they got realy smooth and with all the coats. i still gatta paint them though. haha i know its cheap but thats what i did. i figured id take a crack at it before spending lots of money and time on molds and stuff.

i decided to show you my undersuit now. heres the pants closeup what do you think of this collor for the base coat. i dont think it has enough of a almond/sand/tan color tint to it. what do you think?? (only the one corner is painted) heres a different pain. its spray paint but i brought a sample color someone posted and screenshots from the character model and this was pretty darn close. i couldnt get the color right in the pic, so i took a couple to try to make up for it. either of these ok for base?

i did some more work today. i still havnt had a chance to pic up that diamond wheel for the dremel so i can do my biceps, shin pieces, or helmet yet. also the paint i got for the base coat didnt work out, so im going to have to go to a hobby shop or something soon. but today i did allot more sanding on the helmet. i did some bondo on one of the shoulder pieces, the backpack, and chest plate. this is after i put the bondo on before i sanded it i then added added a few coats of primer to most of the peices. i always seem to finish things at night so i cant take pictures. but heres a dark/blurry i havnt taken a pic of my undersuit yet but i am going to bring it to a local lady that does awesome sewing work. i let her do the hard stuff. ill take the pics after that.

im not sure on how to do the belt part of your kit. could you write up a little something to help me. i dont know it is came in two peices or how to paint or if i need to paint it or what

Its been a while but i did some more work today. i got my kit so now i have lots to work on. today i started by dying my undersuit brown. Now its done being dyed (i did black and brown). im going to bring it to Thanksgiving at my aunt tomorrow and use her sewing machine to sew on the riding patch. heres me getting the dye ready heres the pants and shirt hanging up to dry. i will take a picture of what they look like during the day to give you a better idea(i think they came out great). hanging to dry the rest of the day i basically spent sanding. i did allot of sanding on the helmet to get it smoother. ill probobly do moor soon. i also sanded the edges of most of the armor parts. i plan on doing some bondo work on the helmet and back armor next. then the primer. i picked up a crap load of materials at walmart. i got a for sale sign, 2 part epoxy, and other stuff i will get to later. i also got some paint. i got the primer and found a base coat color (i will post pics tomorrow to see what you guys think of the color). i think i got pretty close. i couldn't find the diamond wheel for the dremel so ill have to order it online or something. i have two questions. the bicep pieces seem big on me. is it ok to trim them down to better fit my arm (should i trim some off both sides, this question is for mr. bungle)? what colors do i use for the green and brown parts in the camo? i want to get them in testor colors.
-
thanks for postin the pics for me man. and the paint look soooooooo good!!!! what colors did you use for the brown and green camo.
-
that looks great chad. do you mind taking a pic of the dremmel and drill bits you used to cut out the rectanle
-
welcome man. sound like fun. i dont think you can vacuuform all the parts (like the helmet) but ill let someone with more armor building experience help you

ive been super busy and was planning to go to south street to pick up some dye and stuff, but my dad was going by a fabric store and beat me to the punch. He picked it up for me. Mighty nice of him. He got me the vinyl (fake leather stuff) for the riding patch and two shaded of brown dye. which shade of dye do you think would work better?
-
i love it here were all so short. and i agree keep up the good work man. and im very sorry to hear that, man.
-
im going to go to south street in philly to try and find some brown dye. i couldn't find any in walmart when i got the black so i figured id just do the black now and the brown when i can. so ill do that as soon as i can.
-
i dyed my under suit. heres a pic of the back of my shirt. i think its pretty close (although maybe a little more brown wouldn't hurt). Do you guys think its ok as is or should i try to make it more brown? Be honest cause i need some feedback
-
i agree i like the foot armor. the smaller sponge works better.
-
I also got my DC-15 and painted it. what do ya think. the stock comes back too and the magazine comes out The size is very good. its thickness is good and its light weight. the barrel seems to be a couple inches to short but i think it will be ok till i can upgrade. i was working on my glove greeblies. heres a pic of the progress. i still have to paint them grey (my guidelines i used to cut the pieces out are visible which makes the pieces look less straight but the grey paint should fix that. im going to use a rubberized paint that should bend with the glove well. i will try to get the gloves finished soon.) i like how the greeblies cam out too. im off to dye my camo. ill keep you updated.

i hope im posting in the right place. ok today i went on an adventure. I ended up going to about 7 different stores before i found these. and guess where i found em. walmart its always the last place you look. haha. these were right there the whole time. i actaly saw 2 i liked at walmart. here they are i went with the lighter brown ones cause the sole was a little rounder and more accurate. i then painted them with a color i found thats in between an off white and almond and i love how they turned out. here they are after i painted them they were only $30. and they look pretty close imho too.

yay looks like fun.
