Hi Nes, Yes, those thigh patches, and thigh straps, are too low. they should end above your knee and the strap should be at the middle of your thigh.

STAR WARS CELEBRATION - LOS ANGELES 2027! APRIL 1-4
Dart replied to BikerScout007's topic in Announcements
Not Anaheim? Interesting... -
I bought a Jet Trooper file set from them. They're not well detailed and really not designed to turn into a costume. It could be done but with sooooo much work.
-
HI! Yes, they're sold mostly trimmed, but there's always a little bit of sanding and cutting. Totally normal. Definitely trim down any of the return edges that stick up. Give all the edges some sanding with a sanding sponge to neaten them up, and make sure you round the corners just a little bit. As far as the hose, what you can do is get some water bottle caps (or something similar) that mostly fit in the ends of the tubes. Figure out the center of the end caps, glue the tops of the bottle caps onto the end caps and then take your E6000, spread a good amount round the grippy/ridgey sides of the bottle cap and stick them in the end of the tube. That should do it. for your belt, you wanna leave a decent amount at the ends to give you some purchase for the rivet (one per side). The belt should be as tall/thick as the boxes, so anything extra can be carefully trimmed off. That one strapping indent on one of your hip boxes is a bit soft, but as long as you cut the slot to 1.5", it won't matter for approval. The biceps should be about a 2" slot, the forearms around 1" and knees about 1/2" or 3/4". You can check out what an approved scout looks like by visiting the CRL page: https://databank.501st.com/databank/Costuming:TB_Scout_trooper Please let us know if you have any other questions!

Sounds too good to be true but gotta ask
Dart replied to toybiz's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Soft Parts
And we can't really see what the pouches look like as they're just flattened out. -
Welcome to the Pathfinders, Tyler! You look like you've got a good start, so keep going! Enjoy your build!

Agreed with Corey. I wouldn't worry too much about that gap as it'll be covered up. Interesting pattern shape, looks like a giant comma.
-
I'd shoot Stephen, Jenny, or Jason a message on your forums to ask if it's ok. I've never trooped up that way so I dunno how strict the CCG is. The worst they can say is no.
-
Agreed. Finalize all your other bits and then do the flap last. Also, you could probably cut that down by at least 1/4-1/3 as it really just needs to be attached just at your waist. Otherwise, glad to see you're making progress! Keep it up!

Interchangable Holster with Velcro?
Dart replied to Micahman6525's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
Also, just from a practical perspective, velcro really wouldn't be enough to hold the weight of the holster and blaster and not fall off with the flexing of the boot material when walking around. -
I'd be careful. I actually bought a Jet Trooper file set from them and they were kinda low quality and not really made for full size 3d printing. By that, I mean the entire jetpack was 1 piece. There's no way to print that unless you cut it apart and remodel some parts, and that would take a while to do and get a good result. If I was printing a file for a 1:6 figure, they'd be great, but not so much for 1:1. It's not super expensive, but I worry that the back plate is all just 1 piece, which makes the detailing for 501st clearance tricky.

Moostic's ROTJ Scout Trooper (RS Prop Masters)
Dart replied to Moostic's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout WIP
If you can find something that's more for plastic, that would be better. JB Weld does make a plastic bonder, and you can get it at Crappy Tire. I'd probably pick that as it's actually made for plastic. -
Is EFX Scout helmet approvable?
Dart replied to Blastermaster's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
Another thing about the EFX bucket (other than I *still* haven't received mine, smh...) is that it seems small. And definitely not easy to put on due to the rigidity of the helmet. If you already have one (lucky you), and it fits, go for it. Otherwise, there's many other helmets out there that are better. -
In the past, I've lined the inside of my holster with some white craft foam. It lets me wedge my blaster into the holster. Not so easy to remove, definitely a task for the ankle-biters.

If someone is using CA glue, better to use the gel glue as it isn't as brittle.
-
You're best off with something that bonds the plastic directly, like a plastic weld and not E6000 or CA glue. I'd do a test before you use the ABS cement. I can't remember if it gets warm when used... possibly affecting the RS chest negatively. Do a test and go from there. Make sure that whatever piece you use, you make the reinforcement a single piece that gets bent over the back of the crease. Stronger that way. And you don't need a huge piece, maybe about 1" is enough near the bottom of it, just above where it dips in.

Looks good! Looks Scouty!
-
I'd also suggest a bit of velcro if you're so inclined. Helps those arm bits from moving around too much and it allows for bands that are not so tight.
-
You can put a bit of padding, but you'd never want too much because it just gets a bit warm. But for fitting purposes, you can do it.

Congratulations!

Nice looking Scout! Good job!
