TB 5794 Requesting Lancer Status (PENDING)

And in costume, from the front: I know the 'bund is a little crooked on the left, but I didn't realize that until I'd already posted the pic... -
TB 5794 Requesting Lancer Status (PENDING)

Okay, here's the tank topper redux: I'll have the requested frontal shots again shortly! -
If it's a canon event, you're only able to carry the holdout blaster. Think on screen. If you didn't see it on screen, you can't do it at a canon event. For those informal non-canon troops, by all means, bring out the BFG!

QUOTE (Marauder @ May 4 2011, 10:01 PM) Man, I wish I had thought of snap/velcro attachments on the cod. Me, I just leave the strap attached to the back of the bund, step through the loop, and fasten up the back of the bund. ~~Marauder Ditto!

I ended up using the barrette method that Marauder mentioned for my TD attachment. Works like a charm!

The chisel blade for the xacto helped me with that. Although I confess I still see some places that need to be cleaned up just a smidge. Anyone else have any suggestions?
-
The boot is a hiking boot from Payless Shoe Source of all places. Rugged Outback is the name on the sole of the boot.

I used a scoring blade (#16) and a chisel blade (#17) for my xacto. I printed a pic of the screen used boots and then using the existing tread pattern, masked off and drew the pattern onto the sole of the boots. The scoring blade comes in handy for the vertical and horizontal lines, while the chisel was used to actually "scoop" the majority of the stuff removed from the sole to reproduce the pattern of the screen used boots. This is the result:

That rivet... as you're looking at my tank topper. I looks from the reference pic you provided like it goes just to the left of the raised portion with the red pinstripe. Is that correct? Loosen the cummerbund/belt a smidge. Got it. Need new pics along those lines? I know I'll have to get the rivet on the tank topper done and photographed. -

I finished my boots yesterday, and I have to say, I think they came out pretty decent. Is it just me or was it just a wee bit nerve wracking first time cutting the sole, knowing that if you screw up, you can't take it back? lol
-
Gosh, that makes me look forward to this step. Thanks! lol... All kidding aside, I'll do the heels, since that's a hard and fast requirement for Lancer, and then decide whether to do the rest of the sole or not. Although I'm thinking at the moment I'll just stop at the heel, but we'll see.
-
Awfully glad I did some puttering around before I asked a question which had already been asked. I was just wondering about the mods to the boot sole for Lancer status. Glad to see it's just the heel that's required to be cut out, rather than the whole boot, although we could do the whole sole should we so desire, right? Now to find an xacto and get cutting; I feel like a 'sole' man already!

Congrats, and well done!

Width of MC shouler "straps"?
Jello replied to Darth Voorhees's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
If I recall correctly, MC called for the straps to be one inch in width. -
Well, isn't that interesting. I guess I should pay more attention to little details like that...
-
Howdy, fellow scouts! I've started assembling my TB kit (MC, by the way, and I'm lovin' it!). I mounted the tank on the back plate yesterday, and noticed some rather sizeable gaps between the tank and the plate itself. So I turn to my scout brethren... Any suggestions on how to fill those gaps in?

Here's what I used: http://www.kjmagnetics.com/proddetail.asp?prod=D84PC-BLK

I counter-sank a rare earth magnet into the button on the grip of my blaster. When I get my kit, I'll be gluing a second rare earth magnet on the side of the holster which rests on the boot shaft. I figure that'll hold the blaster in place pretty well!

I know I'm still new around here and all, still working on my TB, but I'm gonna offer congrats anyhow!
