Is there even one BARC Trooper yet?
Army Scout replied to Imperialgrrl's topic in Kashyyyk Trooper HQ
A white barc would be coolio, but not canon! Just a reminder Army Scout -

Hey troopers, I think we are ready to start sewing. (Almost) A key componet is the vest. I am working with TK-1066 (Tim) to get this prototype done. I think the military MOLLE system will work great for our vest. I have ordered one of these... This shoud look great once worked up! You can find them at Cheaper than Dirt for about $20.00! I will be getting a test ACU shrit tomorrow to start the dye and vest project. Army Scout

I got to work on the bicep armor last night. So far so good Im using 3 inch PVC pipe, bondo and styrene. I'll post some images tonight! Army Scout

Ok lightend up the tan base.... (Sorry for the crappy pic) I'll take more tomorrow... Army Scout

Day 2 update.... Added a little brown tonight. Think I may have overdone it May have to repaint the visor. The tan has to just cover the white, but not overcome the white. Whatch think???

I finally got some time to start working on my BARC helmet kit. I spent about 3 hours cutting sanding and bondin. Layed a few coats of paint and here is what she looks like now... This kits has been a pleasure to work on. I am having a blast Forgot how much fun this is! Now the paint scheme. I know Mike is doing the tan base coat, but I dont think its that dark. So am applying the standard gloss white. Once this is set, I will go over it with a tan wash, then camo it up then weather it. I need to hit the art supply store for some paints. So I thin I can have her ready in a week or so. I'll keep everyone posted Army Scout

The Marines use the MARPAT pattern. Its got alot of green in it...

I got my helmet kit from Mike today. The purchase process was a pleasure! Mike kept me informed on helmet status and shipping information. Helmet was here in less than a week. The helmet was securely packed and there was no damage when I opened the box. The box included 1 helmet and visor, bag of greeblies, instruction sheet and helmet stickers. The helmet itself looks great! As it is a kit, I do need to do some minor prep work. A few places need sanding and a bit of bondo. No major casting defaults anywhere! The visor appears to be nice and strong but will need a bit sanding too. And best of all, no fiberglass smell! The grebblie kit came with all the pieces to make the snout area and a set of bolts for the visor. This kit will take minimal work to get it up and running. But there is an issue....... There are some symmetrical issues. The visor and one of the “ears†is a bit off. But it’s not too bad. Overall I am happy with the kit. I like building things and this will be a great project. I do plan on painting my helmet different the Mike’s. Once painted up, you will not be able to see any imperfections. The camo scheme will hide the symmetrical issues. If Mike were to do a Version 2 helmet and correct these small issues, this helmet would be 5 out of 5 stars!!! As it is now, I’ll give the helmet a 4 out of 5 Army Scout rating! Nice work Mike!!! (Sorry no pics. Damn kid broke my camera. I will be posting my progress thread once I get into the build) Army Scout

The Acrylikhan Armor Project Files
Army Scout replied to Acrylikhan's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
Well that completely sucks! Hope you can get back on track. Your gear is looking great! Army Scout -
I agree with Mad on this. Good work so far Army Scout

I will give you some input as soon as I get home and look at a few images Army Scout

Well, we were thinking of cutting off the shoulder straps and sewing on a custom shoulder strap. (In the proper camo pattern). Now the zipper, just going to use the back as the front The small boxes look like armored boxes, the larger ones cloth. Army Scout

We need to remember one thing, in order to be a canon costume it has to be screen accurate. The problem I am seeing is the book art is different than the screen stuff. Be very carefull if you are using something other then screen caps for reference. Army Scout Just found this too... $20.00! Might be worth looking into. With a few cuts here and there, this might be a great choice for the bottom of the BARC vest. Army Scout

I am eagerly awaiting your work! Army Scout

Ok got the image... Got to look at it a bit more... Army Scout

Can you scan and post that image??? I think we all are pretty much agree that vest idea is the way we should go. Camo top and OD green mid. I think the mollie straps are real close. The pouches look like a mix of hard and soft pouches. Army Scout
-
I was just using that image of the mollie gear to show the straps not a sugestion to mod that vest. Even though that may not be a bad idea Tigger, in order for the vest to work, the top of it would have to match the camo scheme, this image does not show any solid color on the shoulders... And for the middle needing to be painted....looks like a solid green to me... I think the pouches make up for the camo on the lower part of the vest. Army Scout

I think once we get a completed suit done, that will change!!! We are working on a trooper that had a very brief time on camera.

Done and Done!

Within the next couple weeks!!! Chris

I would say "Yes". Dont see why that would change, but of course it would not be canon

I have had a few talks with my fellow costumers and we think we can pull this costume off without breaking the bank. This camo pattern is gonna be a pain in the butt to match. So we are going to try using a camo pattern the is readily available to everyone. We are going to try the current US Army camo pattern....the ACU scheme. After a little dye (brown) I think it will be close. Best of all, there is an ACU jumpsuit, its cheap, and abundant! I know these are not 100% accurate, but I think the pros outweigh the cons.
