Guest xphiledgex
So I decided to be a biker scout for Halloween a couple months ago. I didn't know about 501st or Lancer. So I got the armor in from SC the same day I had a tattoo appointment, come to find out my tattoo artist just recently got I to costuming and he gave me multiple sites to check out. After looking online for building my costume I instantly decided "I'm going to get into 501st". Now after joining here I am "I need to go Lancer". So I am now in the process of undoing all the mistakes I made building my armor.

4505Marcel
The sc belt is fine, just glue instead of rivit together, bells are also fine just round off the bottom corners a touch

Guest xphiledgex
so i got the materials to make my flak vest today. I tried to get some pictures as i went to hopefully help anyone looking to make their own vest. here is the fabric i got. black denim type material and microsuede. got a standard t-shirt pattern to go off of. my work area, needed inspiration and reference for the vest I cut the front and back pattern out of the black fabric. lined the pattern out on the fold per instructions. i shortened the length of the shirt to a couple inches below the arm pit. i sewed the shoulders together next, i cut the back neck opening to match the front so it gave a bigger opening. i used the cut line on the pattern because for a real t-shirt you would add the neck piece but without adding this piece it worked out for the larger opening. next i cut the sleeves out by lining the edge of the sleeve on a fold to get the pattern to stuff with padding this is how the sleeve came out looking after it was cut. here is the sleeve finished with the padding and ridges sewed into it. i ended up sewing the sleeve on the wrong way and had to get pretty familiar with a seam ripper before it could do it the proper way this is the completed flak vest. i used the instructions in the pattern package to finish it up, pretty easy for me to follow and i never sewed before. i doubled up on a couple stitches just to give it some strength and here it is test fit i left the length of the sleeves to what the pattern said because i plan on folding them inside and sewing to get the rounded look i saw in reference pics

Guest xphiledgex
Well I was actually able to "troop" in my costume saturday night, friends had a costume jack and jill so I enjoyed taking it for a test run. I got most of it finished up, couple little details and the boots to do but for the most part it is all set. able to get the whole thing on 1 hanger in the closet. Best suit I have in there Here I am all ready to go. The boots i have are just rain boots spray painted, working on my Lancer boots now with Frank from Donny Darko I am going to start a WIP thread for my boots, also turning the second mask I got into a mold to make a new a bit more accurate
StudioCreations
Dude, you are killing me, putting all those plastic edges and tools on that nice felt pool table. Please , please, put down some cardboard and protect the pool table surface. Oh, by the way, good job on the mods to the costume.
