Guest Colby
I recently received my helmet from Jeff at SC, and I'm eager to put it together. I decided to go with their $100 package which consists of all the white bits. I've been desperately searching for some more step by step wip threads to guide me, but have been unsuccessful. I have received the instructions from Jeff and they are very helpful, just would like a bit more help. Things I am also unsure about: Can i cut out the visor and ear holes with an exacto knife? Or should I heat it up and cut it? Is a dremel necessary? Will a #4 welding visor work as a the visor? And does anyone sell the snout piece? I found a thread in the trade section but it looks to be dried up. Thanks for any help!
Evil-Inc
Colby, a Dremmel will make life A LOT easier! Unsure of the best welding visor grade to use but the darker the better. Contact Mon Cal through the 501st or don_jarr on ebay for great deals on snout pieces. I REALLY recommend don_jarr's stuff...
shdwtrpr13
I'm looking at getting an SC bucket this winter after the rest of my armor is done. From what I've seen a dremmel is the best way to go. I experimented with a heated exacto with less then satisfactory ressaults.
StudioCreations
My Brother and I are partial to using a Coping Saw for cutting out visor windows. Drill a hole about 1/8 inch inside the cut line, thread your coping saw blade through the hole, connect it to the saw handle, then saw away. Takes about 10-15 minutes, and not as nerve wracking as a dremel tool.
Guest Colby
Ok! I've awoken from my non-building slumber and have been kicking butt with my kit for the past week. Two things I need help with: Does the visor area look crooked/not cut correctly (mostly asking about the shape and if I got it "right," I've been staring at it for so long I can't tell if it's right anymore.) And the other thing is what is the decal I put on the side? I had two side-of-the-visor decals and I only saw the more square like grey one after I put the black one on. Should I remove this one? What is it from? Also, did I put it on the incorrect side. When I look at the bucket it's on the right side... It's on the side of the helmet you put the little black stripes on the back on. Guest Colby
And yes, the image is a mirror image on the bottom, my room is the opposite in real life, haha scared myself for a sec.

Southscout
Looks good. You might want to get you hip boxes higher up and towards the back a bit. And the forearm piece should cover the glove, having the elastic just outside the glove which will make the pointy part go over it. It's good to fix before you add any potential velcro to the undersuit and the piece itself.
