dankelzaga
Greetings all! I try to read all the posts I can before posting as I know most of you answer the same questions multiple times. This area I'm still unclear on after searching and reading. I recently received my SC armor. Included is the tank topper. I also have the DJ tank topper. The SC one has a hole for a rivet whereas the DJ one does not. 1) There is a visible diff between the two toppers (aside from one being painted)..are both acceptable for normal or lancer acceptance? 2) If I use the DJ version...do I simply glue it to the tank (without a rivet) or should I be drilling a hole through it to ensure a rivet holds it down? (again, the DJ has no hole through it whereas the SC one does) Would I then have to use another rivet behind the topper to rivet the tank to the hump. I liked Panda's version with the L-shape piece of plastic holding the tank down but I'm also very new to this stuff and the fancier I try to get , the more room for error. I just wasn't sure if I should be drilling right through the DJ topper being as it doesn't come with hole and the area for that rivet hole (on SC'd piece) isn't open. 3) From reading other posts..without going the insert/L-shape piece froute..the only option to keep a "single rivet" is to glue the top part of the tank (leaving a single rivet keeping the topper in place in the middle)...correct? Thanks for any assists..I just don't want to do something wrong when it comes to riveting and with the two variations in tank toppers I wasn't sure what to do. Chex
I know the SC is acceptable for Lancer. Would have to look at the DJ for that one. For Lancer you need to see the rivet at the top of the tank topper, where you see the hole on the SC topper. As far as single rivet. I have SC armor, and am a Lancer. I used a method the previous DL told me about. I'll see if I can find the thread that shows you how.
dankelzaga
Thanks--I appreciate the tips. I think the fact that when I compared the two toppers the missing hole in the DJ one threw me. The DJ topper is also a fair size bigger than the SC one overall.
Chef
Both are clearable for Lancer, and the DJ one is more accurate in size than the SC one, but the tank on the SC kit is smaller, so using the SC one will possibly be better in terms of scale to your kit. The DJ one has the rivet effectively moulded in already and just needs to be glued on top of the tank. How you go about attaching them is really a personal choice thing. The L-Shaped bit of plastic riveted to both the back and tank is the majorly accepted method. If you use this method with the DJ topper, you can either use a flush rivet and hide it under the topper, or drill the 'faux' rivet out and place the real rivet in it's place. hope this helps. Rob.
