Sentry02 Posted August 20, 2012 Share Posted August 20, 2012 Hey folks, I've been working on a sniper rifle for a few months and I did some things that I had been thinking about for a while with this blaster. After seeing some of the Hasbro customizations, I decided to try my hand at one since I had a spare one sitting in my shed. I had a lot of fun with this project and although I still need to put the Magpul PTS stock on it, this is pretty much done. I even placed a set of Thermal Det greeblies on it to give it that TB flare. Early on, I had decided that I wanted to wire this thing up, but keep the sounds from the blaster itself. After gutting the blaster, I cut all wiring that would not be necessary and began planning the locations for wiring and inverter placement. As I was looking through Autozone and Walmart, I happened across some great LED bars that had the grill you see on the T-tracks (unfortunately one of them slid down a bit after I clamped it and I can't move it at this point). All I needed to do was cut them away from the provided power plug and rewire it to my battery pack. I wanted something that would make this rifle stand out, so I opted for some computer parts and picked up a "lightning tube". After rewiring the lightning tube, I found that my 9v batteries wouldn't even come close to powering it, so I opted for an 8-pack of AA batteries and that has the amps I need to connect the tube into the inverter for power. I'm using a standard project box as the wiring and battery housing and the great thing is that it kind of looks like a cartridge. I currently have it secured via velcro simply because I may need to remove it at some point if I move anything. It's upside down with the lid on the bottom for easy battery access. The barrel went through numerous iterations until I found a look that I found acceptable. I had looked into wires and such on the barrel, but never found a setup I liked. I drilled the vent holes straight through the PVC and then drilled them out at an angle. I then needed to figure out how to mount the barrel, so I opted for a compression fitting to connect them and provide a level of stability. The end connected to the blaster has been drilled out so that it can fit over the end of the blaster, but it is removable with some work so that I can break it down and store it. Quick connect allows me to disconnect the lightning bar from the blaster body when the barrel is removed. This story is much, much longer but I figure I should simply share the photos and video at this point, so here they are!
