shdwtrpr13
so as I'm getting my armor together I'm unsure what do use for the decals/details on the armor. or where to go to get it all.

shdwtrpr13
thanks for the heads up...now then the rank bars on the back hump...does anyone know the rank system for those bars?
Griffin-X
If I follow you...asking how many stripes for a rank? Best to follow what is seen on screen.
lonewolf
I originally used a small rectangular cutting of grey vinyl for my SC chest indent and car pinstriping for the back hump[MC supplies great decals for these] Regarding the "rank" stripes, I think there were 4 thick ones and 6 thinner ones seen on screen. Who has more senior rank I don't know. They could most likely be "vent" detailing a bit like the stripes on the helmets? Which ever way you see it, if you want accuracy four thin ones are wrong and the guy with 4 thicker stripes has another small piece of striping above the middle vertical stripe on the tank. Most often we use 6 thin "rank" stripes.

Chef
Yup.. The screen ones either had 1 thick, 4 thick or 6 thin. Your choice. Who decided it was a rank bar, if it is indeed one is unclear. I, like John, would conclude that it is more of a vent detailing rather than a rank bar. So stick to what you see on screen. Most popular is 6 thin. shdwtrpr13
Ok cool I'll stick with the 6 thin then, and I'll check with MC this week....or next since CV 6 is this weekend about the decals. which leads me to what paints would be best for the Tank greebies red strip and white dot? shdwtrpr13
hmm just so I have the poll from your guys I know which paint to use on my. but should I use gloss of flat?
dankelzaga
Not sure if this was something you were looking for also...but for the tank detail lines...my local auto store had 1/8 pinstriping in both black and red and it was very cheap. I thought it worked very well (I used the red for that little line of detail on the tank topper although I know some just paint). I felt like the red pinstripe allowed less room for "unsteady hand" error. I personally went with the 4 rank bars. I was a corporal E-4 in the Marine Corps and was happy to be able to carry that over to my scout outfit in some manner. Making 4 bars versus 6 was also less room for error relative to my inexperience with all of this.
shdwtrpr13
After I paint the resin black and let it dry I'm going to use modelling paint and blue tape to make the red stripe. The white dot will be a bit tricky. But GW has new paints with better pigments so I might use their white. Just need to figure if I should the the black kylon fusion in gloss or flat.... Darthzemog
I went with Trooper-bay for the tank and helmet decals, can't go wrong with him, his decals are excellent and super easy to put on! I also purchased lens material from him which he cut to the specific size I needed. Easy to trim with ordinary scissors and works great! I can see out just fine and no one can see in. The decals and lens material that KS included in their helmet kit just stunk IMHO. Paintwise, I used Testors model paint. Red=1150, White=1168 and Grey=1138. For painting the inside of the helmet and nose, I just used flat black spray paint. I then hand painted the grey in the nose, on the nose piece, the helmets elevator bolts and the little rectangle on the chest armor. Just make sure you mask off real good where you are painting with blue painters tape. Also hand painted the red stripe and white circle after the tank was applied to the back armor and the tank topper was glued down. I need to touch up the red a little, but overall it all worked out nicely!
