Short girl in KS build

Hi everyone!

I'm looking for some input.

Recently received my ks armor and seeing as I'm 5'2", I'm struggling somewhat to make the appropriate adjustments. I cut 1.5 inches off the chest and 1.5 inches off the backplate and it still seems as though my pouches are hanging over the belt. The belt, btw, is huge. Anyone have suggestions on an alternative? I have yet to apply velcro to the suit or add straps and suede. I don't have the flak done. Need to do pin striping. I'm thinking I should either buy new boxes or cut these ones down (suggestions on how I can cut these and still look right?) Holster needs to be attached. Anything else you can see that needs work or any suggestions for the above issues? Thanks!!!

My first question would be, what kind of boots are those? Looks like a seam up the front of the boot, which there should not be. Also, your tubes are a little too high. Would like to see at least a 2-3 inch gap between boot and knee armor. KS armor can tend to run a little big on short people. There was a trooper about your height and build who put together a nice KS set up and fit it to her size. Have to check the archives, but it could give you some good insight. As for your pouches, I would say they need to be scaled down a little more to fit you better.

Your webbing for your hip boxes should be 1.5 inch, and your clip should be centered between the belt and box. Yours is too close to the hip box. Not a bad build so far though. Post up some more pictures, and I'll see if I can't track down that old build thread for you.

I agree with the assessment from Chex. Interesting boots. Overall, looking really good! The only items I would add are make sure to paint or add a grey rectangle decal to the chest front indention and it looks like you need 2" webbing over the chest/back joins (top).

Wondering if those are CABoots. I know those can be expensive, and remember that if they are, and you plan on using them, that you def need to have that holster mounted. I know scouts who were approved old school with no holsters, and still don't wear one to this day...and it aggravates the heck out of me. And we still let them troop canon events like that. Ugh.

The boots need to be shortened, that will make you look taller. I also recommend to bring the chest a bit up, as far as I can see you have a gap where the shoulders meet. Smaller pouches are needed, I'm sure a larger trooper will be happy to buy yours. Bring the biceps up so that they don't overlap with the forearm. They can be overlapped by the flakvest.

Those are definitely CaBoots. Good boots but the shaft is too tall on all of them. You can do that yourself or take them to a shoe repair place, if there are any left. Bring the chest and back up at the shoulders by cutting a bit off at the top where the front and back meet. Also, like me, you have an issue with the biceps staying up. I solved it by getting two small, black safety pins and pinning the elastic of the bicep to the elastic of the shoulder bell. Now they always stay up. As far as the belt, I cut the plastic at the back off about two inches on either side. Then I cut the nylon that was riveted to it the same amount. I then riveted it back together to have a much better fit.

Hey Chick- I made a scaled down pattern for the pouches (wife is 5'2" ish) That would help the overall look i think.

I can make you a set if you like- just gotta make sure i still have that material. Also there was a guys here who also

posts on clonetroopers who vacc'ed his wife a smaller belt, check the 'builds for wives' type threads going back 8mo to a year

and contact him. You could probably trim and re-shape the tops of the knees a bit to knock them down a notch without

loosig the raised detail and return edge at the bottom. KS makes some biiiiig drop boxes- MC drop boxes would suit your

smaller frame much better. Not that yours look bad- they're just big for little you.

Hope this helps-

Mike T

PS Love the 2x4 Inukshuk behind you!

I wouldn't pin or connect anything from the shoulder bell to the bicep. It would look sloppy seeing elastic like that on the outside of the vest sleeve. If you have to, sew some velcro on your sleeve where you want the biceps. Remember, it's ok if the biceps sit a little under the vest sleeve.

Amanda I'm feeling ya, its not easy, I trimed my Plastic also, I'm 4'11" If you can sew redo your cummberbun to your size otherwise it is going to drive you nuts. you should be able to sell the larger size one easy.

I used velcro and fabric for the front and back plate, so I could still pull them apart if needed and I did when I flew interstate.

I agree with guys on the boots.

I went to my GML and asked what was the closet I could trim the armor before being knocked back on Approval. So before Trimming ask.:)

Good luck
