DougTheHusky
Ok, so I have most of my costume done. Just waiting on a few things. I commissioned someone for the flight suit and cummerbund, made my own boots and bought the gloves from SA. And I am planning on getting my armor from SC. My question is, would a KS helmet be 501st approved pre-built? I'm not interested in going Lancer (not yet ;D ) Thanks in advanceeeee :
bjsavage7
.My question is, would a KS helmet be 501st approved pre-built? Absolutely. KS is a great bucket & if you do decide to eventually upgrade it, it doesn't take very much money or effort.
Griffin-X
I agree with BJ...great helmet and worn by many.
loosetoon
Yup. Open the box and put it on your head. You are all set.
Scarcasm
Being picky i'd say no. The decals are incorrect ( at least mine were) and the earcaps are ringed in Black, the snout greeblie was also incorrect. Perhaps that's a garrison issue though and may well be clearable in your own. Very comfortable though + minor issues to fix.
Chef
And haven't people recently had issue with the quality of these with bad pulls and construction not quite up to par?? I haven't had one, so I would urge owners of recent purchases to pipe up and share your experiences.

However, for basic 501st clearance, outta the box - even with the inaccurate stickers and snout greeb, it's still passable.
Smiling Fox
I bought one a few months ago and had to have a replacement right away. The helmet was two different colors and even the second one is off, though less noticeable. The second helmet had less issues with the ear being wrinkled but both were not great. All in all, I would go with another if you can get it.
Evil-Inc
I'd contact SC & get one from them. In fact I have..... 4 of them.
Goubatsu
I ordered my KS helmet pre built last week, im hoping despite all the stories that it will show up and be perfectly fine, aka no bubbles not two different colours not inside out upside down decals ETC! ( I worry too much) But I am however replacing decals and the snout (if its all to my standards) to make it look better, however if you feel as if you don't want to do that extra work then that's fine for minimum standards (basing what people are saying and have told me) you should get approved! but I will definitely let you know how mine turns out whether good or bad. It seems like a good helmet and many people agree on these forums but, no company is perfect and everyone makes mistakes which is understandable. But if it turns out like all these nightmarish aka two colours stories iv read here recently im just gonna send it back and get a SC one
Griffin-X
The new SC helmet looks really nice. I have not seen one up close. Unfortunately, KS is hit or miss. Just communicate with Scott @ KS and make sure you are happy. My helmet was a good one, but most KS helmets (and mine) have the "ear wrinkle" that Smiling Fox mentioned. It's not very noticable with the face plate down and ALL of my Stormtrooper helmets have similar imperfections from casting. I replaced the snout, decals, then added the 3M bolt covers. It's my baby...

loosetoon
And as far as the SC bucket goes, it's been said that it will only fit small to medium heads (Which leaves me out.) So if you've got a big 'ol melon, KS is for you. Dear, lonewolf, our large screen accurate sized heads need your screen accurate sized bucket!
