Ok so we are measuring my flight vest and when I put it on I noticed it was a tad loose. I don't want to say baggy. And I was wondering if it would be a problem. Also I just want to clarify some things.

1. Elastic thigh strap, 2" wide just above the mid thigh.

2. Sued for riding patchs, real sued or is foe ok for lancer.( the lancer fro says real but I've ready.for was ok a few places.)

3. Vest light cotton canvas black, goes under the bind, velcro patches to secure buns and vest together.

4. Cumberbund 2 inch velcro attatching the back closures. Black 2" elastric band from cod to attatch to the back of the bund, sewn to the back.(sewn). Bund to measure from hips to under the nipple line.

Work will start this week. I'll be buying the fabrics tomorrow. And pictures to come soon.

(forgive any errors. This post sent from.driod phone)

Hi Michael, you have a good idea what you are doing so far,

The cummerbund may be too long if you measure from your hip to nipple, folks make this part too big and it either goes below the belt or above the chest/back joining webbing or both.

Also I think while you are about to start sewing that you possibly use a thin foam padding, maybe like camping mats material on the codpiece only. The "camel toe" can be avoided by proper padding in this material, I am still experimenting myself.

The codpiece could start at around 12" at the top and taper away to the groin area. The originals were quite wide and start above the plastic belt. Many guys make the codpiece too thin IMO.

The 2" thong should possibly be stitched over the front of the codpiece like the originals, however toilet breaks could make this a bit impractical, many of us have a snap at the front to allow easy access. I think there may be a good compromise somehow.

Yes I think real suede was used on the original riding patch and butt flap but some of the fake suede looks just as good and is more washable/user friendly. I know after every troop I have to wash my undersuit due to perspiration, and I live in a cold country.

Good luck with the build,

thanks for the good info. since I larp I have loads of Blue mat foam around easily accessable. and I didn't thing of that for the snap at the cod piece I'll have to check in to that area. I was thinking of how hard it would be to hit the can though, so theres one idea. as for the cumberbunb being too long.....think I should wait until I get my hard armor, i.e. belt and chest before I make this so I don't mess it up?

Yes you really need to have the belt made and the chest/back sitting nice to get an accurate measurement for the cummerbund. The originals stopped along the top of the belt. The codpiece and thong keep the cummerbund from wandering.
