Guest Ryan
I recently purchased some fan made armor from "http://www.studiocreations.com/howto/bikerscout/bike_armorforsale.html" and noticed that the shoulders were different sizes and cut a little awkwardly (not straight cuts) and one shoulder is about 2cm longer than the other one. Also, the back piece doesn't exactly fit on. Should I say something to them or is that accpected? Is this a reputable dealer? I bought it because it says it was accepted by the 501st (ugh I really should have checked here first before buying, I got impulse buying problems... seriously). Thanks in advance! -Ryan
Arnie
No expert but I think a lot of people use SC armour, but I probably needs a bit more work done than MC.
Jimah
Sadly a lot of sellers advertise that a kit is pre-approved or approvable for 501st, when even the best armour kit won't pass muster if you have built it incorrectly, or it doesn't fit you at all. The kit should be approvable... if built correctly. Not having built an Original Trilogy scout I am only going on general knowledge here, so I may stand corrected Maybe post some pics? I am sure that a lot of folks will be happy and able to offer advice, and help you get the kit (hopefully0 to a state where it both fits you and is approvable. Don't despair! Arnie
You will be surprised what can be approved, as long as its well built But nothing in this hobby is ready to wear or can be approved straight away. Not even if you bought a previously pproved costume by another member. It have to fit you and it must be approved with you in it
M.J
Ryan .....all kits have to be adjusted and Trimed one way or another, members come in all different sizes and shapes so its hard to buy one size fits all, I'm under 5 foot so you can imagine the work I had to place into mine. If you need any help, just like Jimah mentions just pop up some photos and we are all here to help, and we have all been there. I have found SC to be fantastic in their help and great to deal with. If your having problems with the back plate have you emailed SC?
lonewolf
The SC shoulders are a bit too long anyway, cut them both the same size, round the corners of them as well, check screen grabs for the details. The back hump will fit with a little bit of trimming, the originals didn't sit too well together either. Studio Creations armour is made from a nice robust plastic, it can look great when finished, many guys on here use SC, in fact some of us achieved Lancer using SC. Me in my old SC kit. Whilst not as accurate as Mon Cal armour it is not a bad buy. You may have to change some of the strapping and some elastic widths, please glue the belt parts together rather than riveting them together, Careful trimming and a bit of care, oh and a load of questions will have you tree dodging in no time.
