jaycee9 Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 1 boot done cutting the soles. Still need to tidy them up but hope these will pass for Lancer... Just added some final pics of the boots finished apart from clean up and holster on page 2 for those that were interested how these boots look Cheers guys, thanks for watching.
ukscout Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 can't see why these would not pass lancer status - possibly closet base boot to use apart from the originals your probably going to get look good so far
Griffin-X Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 No doubt, great find and work on your boots.
Boba Leo Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 Yes, I love this boots!!!!!! Great Work!!!!!! Leo
jaycee9 Posted February 13, 2012 Author Posted February 13, 2012 Thanks guys, they are fairly easy to cut. For those thinking about them, the logo on the back of the sole came off easy with running a knive flush with the sole and the same for the logo on the bottom. Will post more pics when I start wrapping the top as there is a bit of work there to hide the lace holes and the gap. Cheers everyone
4505Marcel Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 The cuts certainly wouldnt fail a lancer app you have done a good job on them. Only thing that sticks out to me and it maybe the reflection from the top of the boots but are the soles green??? The soles should be a sandy/honey beige colour
jaycee9 Posted February 16, 2012 Author Posted February 16, 2012 Nah, it's just the light. They are a honey colour. Thanks for the response Marcel, makes me feel a bit easier knowing they should be ok for Lancer
jaycee9 Posted February 25, 2012 Author Posted February 25, 2012 Here is the latest step done... Had to fill in the gap between the laces before covering the toe so it wouldn't sink with heat and stretching!!!
jaycee9 Posted July 20, 2012 Author Posted July 20, 2012 Ready for some sewing and more glueing. Had a set back as my sewing machine wasn't strong enough so had to call in a favour so will have some more up-dated pics to show soon PLUS armour is finally on it's way!!!!!!! Only after waiting 27 weeks
Havok69 Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 Looks great - I think I'm going to pick up a pair of these. Do you think the top two eyelet hooks are going to cause any problems with the vinyl, like bulging out too much?
jaycee9 Posted July 20, 2012 Author Posted July 20, 2012 Shouldn't be an issue, I was going to lace them up but after testing with the toes glues I wont need to. They will fit nice and snug so the top eyelets should be out of the way of the top of the vinyl.
Maelstrom Posted September 29, 2012 Posted September 29, 2012 This might be a stupid question, but what did you fill toes open area of the boots with?
jaycee9 Posted September 29, 2012 Author Posted September 29, 2012 I just made a template and used an extra piece of the white vinyl. Worked well but could try 2 layers and see if that makes it too full?
jaycee9 Posted October 2, 2012 Author Posted October 2, 2012 I'm using Selley's Kwik Grip. Seems to be the norm over here.
silent Posted October 11, 2012 Posted October 11, 2012 can't wait for more updates, just bought the same boots for my build
gowinme Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 Jaycee and silent, How are these boots working out? I'm thinking of picking up a pair. Thanks! Matt
jaycee9 Posted October 23, 2012 Author Posted October 23, 2012 So far so good, just waiting to get some sewing done as my machine isn't up to the challenge. A bit of work cutting the soles but I think it is worth it in the end. Just my opinion
silent Posted November 3, 2012 Posted November 3, 2012 do you have to take the shoestrings out or can you leave them in?
jaycee9 Posted November 3, 2012 Author Posted November 3, 2012 I took them out as once I stretched the toe, it is a really nice snug fit to wear. I figured if I needed them, I could always use shorter laces and just lace the ankle area for support but honestly don't think I'll need them.
jaycee9 Posted November 3, 2012 Author Posted November 3, 2012 Boots basically finished, just some clean up and wait for glue to dry.
silent Posted November 3, 2012 Posted November 3, 2012 I see now why you put the piece on the tongue first, otherwise you get a seam at the toe
jaycee9 Posted November 4, 2012 Author Posted November 4, 2012 Yeah, worked pretty well. Can see it a little but other than that.
