jaycee9 Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 Ok guys and girls... I'm looking into which bucket to get and wanted to know your opinions, experiences, thoughts... Been in touch with Lonewolf and he said he isn't doing any kits yet (maybe later this year), been told Moncal look awesome but are very heavy due to being resin. Haven't heard much about the others so any info would be great... I'm waiting on my Moncal armor if that helps with which bucket suits this armor better??? Cheers, Jason...
Griffin-X Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 A lot of scouts (myself included) sport a KS helmet. It comes in a kit and is easy to assemble. I dig it...
Grantd1* Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 KS are good from what I've seen. In my experience I initially went with the MLCv3 lid (this is the one that MonCal sources...I think!) - I thought it was fibreglass heh heh shows what I know!!! But there was no issue with weight. I recently acquired a LW and really like it's look 0 I've not trooped in it yet but it feels pretty good. I posted a 'LW vs MLCv3' thread in the bucket section. Andy has also posted a comparison shot of his KS vs LW lid in his own LW build thread - plenty info there
Ower Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 I just picked up a MLCv3 from someone and waiting on it. I'm hoping it fits my noggin'.. I'd love a LW one but as yous mentioned he's not doing any kits now. If this MC ones doesn't fit I'll go with a KS as I've heard his are also more giving to us brainiac fellows. I do believe MCs are fibreglass and not resin.
jaycee9 Posted January 30, 2012 Author Posted January 30, 2012 My bad, i thought I said fibreglass... Small brain, words not come out right Thanks for the info guys
Guest Chapelbyte Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 My lid is from MC and I have no issues with the weight and I'm just a petite female
BananoPower22 Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 I love my KS. It was a ver run and interesting build. If you decide to go with the KS kit, be sure to lurk around the forums for references and build threads before building. Once that's done the KS build will be a piece of cake!
Boba Leo Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 LW, MLC v3 and Ks are the three best helmet you can find here!!!!! Leo
jaycee9 Posted January 31, 2012 Author Posted January 31, 2012 Thanks guys, will look into a KS I think and maybe up-grade to a MLC later on...
jaycee9 Posted January 31, 2012 Author Posted January 31, 2012 By the way, does anyone have a contact for KS helmets please??? My stupid laptop wont let me use the link on their site
Ower Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 Just wanted to follow up once I got my MLCv3, If you have a big head I'd suggest going with the KS or LW. The helmet is great but it is a very tight squeeze getting it on, almost too tight as the fiberglass gives little if any movement that an ABS bucket would give.. Once I have it on, it isn't too bad but I don't think I'd ever be able to mic it I just picked up a MLCv3 from someone and waiting on it.
Hollywood Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 Something to think about is also the look you want. Meaning..................... If you want the look of one of the stunt Scouts than the MLC is a great way to go. If you want the look of the "Hero" Scout then the KS is the way to go. Either one is great, and each has its inaccuracies, and modifications which will be needed. I personaly use the KS. I like the weight, the ABS, and the look. Also the MLC is very restrictive for certain larger head sizes. Something to also consider in the future EFX will be releasing their Scout helmet which will be derived from the original LFL molds. It is a long way out, and will be VERY expensive, but it will be the ultimate for accuracy. Good luck and keep us updated on your progress.
4505Marcel Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 Only thing ive seen with KS some of the kits go out in pretty bad shape with poor pulls. That being said ive also seen some nice ones, I use a MLC and have a medium head and I love it, my mate tried to get it on with a large head and couldnt get it on. If you have a big melon then Altmanns if you can get one is a good choice. Johns LW helmet is very nice indeed, and we also have the new one being made from a studio mold getting released hopefully at some point. Of course a heavily modded rubies can also make the grade with alot of time needed on it.
jaycee9 Posted February 16, 2012 Author Posted February 16, 2012 Don't think my head is that big but will see how my build goes!!! LOL... I've ordered a KS, so will see how that goes while still on the lookout for an Altmans... If I need to upgrade or need something smaller I will look into a MLC down the track. Now it's just the waiting game for a while!!!
BananoPower22 Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 If you want the look of the "Hero" Scout then the KS is the way to go. What do you mean by hero? Is there stunt too? And is thread that explains this?
Hollywood Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 What do you mean by hero? Is there stunt too? And is thread that explains this? The "Hero" helmet is the helmet that was desgined to be used for close-ups. You can see it during the speederbike chase when Luke is fighting the trooper. The "stunt" or "background" version is the version seen most on film, which maintains a quite different appearance to the close-ups. So if you look at how the various helmet makers have developed their molds, each based their look on one of the two helmets mentioned above.
ChadVader Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 I know LW is reading these posts... I think he should do a run in time for us n00bs to complete b4 CVI Question... are stunt accepted for Lancer status too? 1
