I'm looking to start my build this weekend but have a few questions....

1. Glue: specifically with regard to the reinforcements & the lid/faceplate - ideally I'd like to use CA glue (zap-a-gap) but this can sometimes distort the abs or should I go with ole faithfull - E6000?

2. sticking the lens - okay I've learnt to put te lens in the oven to get an even heat & then round it off against something of a similar angle, like a bucket or frying pan!! However I don't plan to use hot-glue to stick it in, what would be my best 'other' option?

3. Narrowing the faceplate - hot gun work scares me!! What did people do to get this right? Clam it in place then gently apply heat? two man job with one applying heat & the other 'over-bending', so it rests back at the correct angle?

Thanks fellow buds!

Lens is an easy one, dont heat it up its flexable as it is and stick it straight in with hot glue, sticks instant and holds well. I wouldnt use hot glue for anything else though.

Also dont rule out abs weld for the build, sticks the two together very well and can be mixed with abs shavings to make a paste and fill the gaps which in turn can be filed/sanded.

Ive not made a LW helmet but have worked alot with abs, I oersonally wouldnt use too much superglue, I find it can break joint even the felxable stuff.

The lens you have is 3mm perspex, if you try to bend it like Marcel is suggesting then it will break. Do not do this.

ABS glue is best for ABS, your local Plumbing supplier will be able to sell you a tub of ABS weld for about a fiver.

Good luck.
