Fool Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 I have just about finished my pistol for my TB. This first one is out of wood (since I don't know how it will fit in the holster) Componets Somewhat together Quote
Griffin-X Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 That's pretty neat. Did you make the blaster yourself? Quote
Fool Posted November 22, 2011 Author Posted November 22, 2011 Yes, I am machining it myself. I drew it up in solidworks, and programmed it in WorkNC. Quote
Dart Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 Wow! That's some fine quality woodworking there. Quote
bdgr Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 Very nice. I'm super impressed with your skills. Have you made any other SW props in wood? Quote
Griffin-X Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 Yes, I am machining it myself. I drew it up in solidworks, and programmed it in WorkNC. Great job and I know the weight must be nice too. If you ever decide to make these for other scouts, I'm sure we'll all be interested. Quote
bjsavage7 Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 Great job and I know the weight must be nice too. If you ever decide to make these for other scouts, I'm sure we'll all be interested. I second that! LOL! Quote
Fool Posted November 23, 2011 Author Posted November 23, 2011 Very nice. I'm super impressed with your skills. Have you made any other SW props in wood? First SW project, and thank you. I just got my KS helmet in the mail and will be working on that next. Great job and I know the weight must be nice too. If you ever decide to make these for other scouts, I'm sure we'll all be interested. It really depends on how durable it ends up being. It's made out of perfect plank and there are some places I have to fill in that chipped out. Also, I have no idea if this fits the holster (on order). Quote
Fool Posted November 23, 2011 Author Posted November 23, 2011 Just got the scope mounted today also. Quote
Griffin-X Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 Keep us all posted. Great progress and work on this blaster. Quote
lonewolf Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 Excellent work Gary, too nice to paint Quote
ukscout Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 OMG!!! that brilliant, the detail of the carving has come out really sharp you must make copies what wood is it made from BTW???? Quote
Fool Posted November 23, 2011 Author Posted November 23, 2011 It's made out of perfect plank. And FYI it's not carving, I am a tool & die maker by trade, but I program and design now. All of this has been made on CNC's. Also thank you all for the nice words. Quote
Fool Posted November 28, 2011 Author Posted November 28, 2011 Well, I got to meet my local garrison this weekend, that was very cool. I also learned that the blaster I'm making fits perfectly in the holster. They were very happy with it's weight, one of them told me his other blaster was ripping the holster off of his boot, he also suggested I put a magnet into the grip, which would be very easy. So I started sealing it this weekend and hope to have it done in a week or so. Quote
Griffin-X Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 Very cool Gary, I can't wait to see it. Quote
Fool Posted December 12, 2011 Author Posted December 12, 2011 Just a few touch-ups left, but mostly all done! It is just over 1/2 a pound. What a lot of work, for one little pistol. Quote
Griffin-X Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 Gary - your blaster has turned out really nice! Expert work! Quote
