lonewolf
Ok firstly I know they are NOT white. Beige can be termed many ways, light brown, cream , desert sand etc Off white can also be termed alongside beige. To avoid confusion for future Biker Scouts I would buy natural [unbleached]white canvas for the pouch material, hope this helps some of you. 4505Marcel
This was discussed months ago by all the staff and lancers, the best solution we thought to avoid the whole what is the correct tones of off white and beige, thing was to stick to white or off white for the pouches, but still staying close ish to white rather than beige if that makes sense. White for clean scouts and white/off white for those wanting to go weathered was the outcome of the discussion. I searched long and hard for a heavy weight twill (duck cloth) in natural, but all I could find was way too biege. Best bet is to buy white and use a weak dylon or tea solution to get to them closer to film off white. But even then when guys post a show thread, everyones monitors show things slightly different coloured, which puts anouther spanner in the works. lonewolf
I have found a nice natural white canvas, it looks very similar to the screen used Scouts and doesn't need tea, dylon or any other extra hassle. I suspect the original material was a natural canvas/cotton material with a bit of overspray on it for a fast weathering effect. A much better way is to buy the canvas/duck cloth/twill material and if you think it is too brown/beige/dark then a couple of washes will lighten it up.At worst a little while in bleach will help. To keep saying white for clean scouts and white or off white for dirty scouts is not particularly accurate. I read the discussions and agreed with MC.Now we all have the Blu ray or have seen screen grabs we can always decide what we see for ourselves. Apparently tea is not a good idea for darkening down materials as the final result is too tricky to control. I have never tried it , only what I heard. Just trying to help future scouts get it right first time round.
bjsavage7
I used tea to darken my elastic straps that connect my chest & back so they would match my drop box straps. It was really tricky, but after dyeing & having to re-whiten them with a bit of bleach water a few times, I finally got the color pretty close. It can be done, but it's a pain. It would have been nice to have everything match from the start.
