ECOLI
Hi, Everyone I have been around for a bit and have just finished a TD, although I think I need some alterations to be 501st accepted. I really loved the build and the outcome and now am looking into some other challenges etc to practice with. The TB looks fun but challenging but it looks alot more comfortable than a TD or TK so I thought I may try and tackle one. My first question in my investigation is what armor is the thickest.... I have worked with ABS .093 and it is pretty sturdy stuff, however I am pretty sure an MC scout that I talked to had some pretty thick armor almost a quater inch thick, any help or direction would be great- Salud Ecoli
lonewolf
The best is MC, just got the kit today, wow. Thickest? no idea.
ECOLI
Did it come with a helmet???
lonewolf
No I made my own helmet, this stuff is sturdy, SC seems a bit more flexible, possibly due to the lack of return edges but they are all a similar thckness of ABS, Kropserkel is the same. I fully understand your armour thickness question, especially coming from Stormtrooper land. My Stormy is 1.5mm PVC, flexible and strong. Biker Scout armour is thick no matter which kit you go for. Biker Scout is very comfortable, more vision and sitting down is easy, only problem is that I feel it is a bit warmer than the Stormtrooper cossy. If you want the most accurate armour go for the MC kit, a long wait unfortunately but worth it.
chimei
wore mine for the first time today...and it actually got a bit "toastie"....so i can't imagine how it will be in the summer (hot and humid here in NYC)...i may lose some weight doing this. when i was a US Civil War reenactor, i lost 6lbs by marking in the wool uniform. i'll compare that to a racing suit, and plastic armor!
